Bellatrix:

Date: December 31, 2020.

Finally, it is New Year's Eve— the last day of 2020! Thank God that we made it through this hell hole of a year! I honestly thought it would never come, but it finally did without us even noticing in the slightest! And as tradition goes, we all had made New Year's Resolution for ourselves and what we wanted to do for the year 2021, what we wanted to change, what we wanted try out as 2021 began to make its way through the doorway with 2020 getting lost forever and never coming back with only memories of the past being shared all around. I had resolutions of my own as I always did: Continue to learn the life skills needed with the mentorship of our mother and to continue following God's path as always. Abby though, I didn't if she even had a New Year's Resolution or not as she never told me hers or she never came up with any in the first place; but this, I decided that I would ask her about it and see what she would tell me.

I went into our bedroom, where I found Abigail sitting near the window, looking outside as light snowfall ascended down from the sky and flakes slowly taking their time to make landfall onto the ground like feathers falling slowly from the sky prior to falling off of a bird midflight; she herself had such a year herself just like the rest of us did and it'd be best if I did not speak about it for her sake. "Hey, Abigail." I hoarsley muttered. She turned her head to face me. "Heya, Bellatrix." She replied before turning her attention back to the window. I walked into the room and sat down right next her and we watched on as the small snowflake made landfall on the wet, muddy surface of the earth. As we watched, I went on to ask: "So, Abs, do you happen to have a New Year's Resolution or two set in stone for the year 2021 or no?"

Abigail looked at me in surprise and turned her attention over to me and replied: "I honestly thought you would never ask because I do in fact have a New Year's Resolution for next year. A few, actually."

Bellatrix: "I'm listening, go ahead and tell me all about them."

Abigail: "Well, to start off, the main thing I want to do attend therapy sessions to help me with my anger issues. Since I've been suggested numerous times to take therapy and now that I'm deciding to finally do it for the greater good and for the sake of my physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual, health. I also hope to work on my anger issues as well so that way I won't blow up in someone's face the next time they decide to get on my nerves for no apprent reason."

Bellatrix: "That's wonderful to here, Abigail! But, mind if I ask you why that is?"

Abigail: "I'm doing all of this to fix my relationship with Amethyst and hopefully fix our friendship as well. Breaking up with Craig was just the beginning of it, but I know that I have to do more than just break up with a lying, cheating asshole just to do it."

Bellatrix: "That is true."

Abigail: "And after what happened three months ago, now is as good of a time as ever to do just that because I want to make things right again with Amethyst, her family, and all of our friends at that."

Bellatrix: "Well I'm glad to hear all of that and just know that we'll be here for you throughout all of it, helping you every step of the way."

Abigail: "Thanks, sis."

We talked a lot that evening and throghout the night until the countdown came.

"Happy New Year!" We yelled together as soon as it struck midnight.

It was no longer Thursday, December 31, 2020; it was now and finally Friday, January 1, 2021! "Finally, the nightmare is over! A new year, a new beginning, a new everything! Good fucking riddance 2020 and helloooooo 2021! Hahahaaaa!" I said in triumph with Abigail joining along as well. God, we were so happy at that moment!

After the excitement wore off, we began to talk once again about the New Year and what we were excited about. We were up until 3 a.m. where we then decided to go to sleep afterward.

Abigail:

New year, new me. They say and that would be me as well as on that same early morning, I had the same dream yet again. I found myself in the same deserted wasteland as usual, and just as I expected, the same iron cage with the exact same bird in it stood in the middle and rather than the bird being dead, it was alive, crying and and chirping to be freed. This time, I had a change of heart for the poor bird; I coaxed her and calmed her down. "Here, let's get you out of this cage." I whispered. I opened the cage, placed the my hands inside and let the bird walk into my hands and I slowly moved my hands out of her prison. "Every bird deserves a chance to taste freedom and not be caged 24/7. Birds such as you, for instance. I'm sorry I didn't give you this earlier but here I am given it to you now." I told the bird before lifting my hands into the air where she then flew away and I watched happily as she flew away.

Then, I could feel that same shadow come up to me but I looked it dead in the eyes and said: "You don't scare me anymore. I've changed my ways and I will follow in your heinous acts ever again. I will follow my own path from now on. Not yours."

And so, the shadow disappeared for good and I didn't shoot awake from there, I stayed asleep, knowing that this reoccurring dream was basically a disease that I had to cure myself.

And the cure was to change my ways and I did.

And I would continue on from there as the year went by; a year that was going to be filled with anger than happiness.
