Shortly after the intimate experience at the mines, came the scene at the Catacomb. That heartbreaking moment that would change the course of history, that very moment that would be my ruin.
I found myself growing weaker and weaker within the Catacombs, dodging Solomon's attacks and targeting the inferi. I had no clue why the man was so out to get us. Yes of course Sebastian's longing for the relic was gravely concerning, but Solomon was not helping. If we were alone, I was sure that I could convince Sebastian against heading further down this path. Though we had been in this together, gradually faltering more and more towards the darkness, I knew that certain bounds were not to be crossed, and it was reaching a point where I was beginning to question if what Sebastian really craved was power.
It was all becoming incredibly and horrifyingly out of my control.
"Sebastian! You must stop this!" I cried out amongst dodging Solomon's spells.
"I won't let her suffer!" He yelled back, fury contorting his features as he glanced in my direction. I had never seen him this mad, at least not since he had called me ignorant, which wounded me deeply.
Solomon then lashed out with a spell, leaving me disabled, as he used "Expelliarmus" to disarm me. He threw a few more basic casts till I was down on my back as Inferi approached.
This was it. This was really the end. I couldn't believe it. All this was for nothing.. I would never be able to save Sebastian from this dark path he was headed on, but most importantly I couldn't save myself.
"Lilia!" Sebastian cried out, as he used Incendio to ward off the Inferi around me.
I exhaled a breath of relief as I tried to sit up, but the scene I was witnessing was one that would haunt me forever.
"You've attacked us for the last time." Sebastian growled as he warded off Solomon's last attack.
Breathless, I watched as Sebastian shouted "Avada Kedavra!" as his wand was pointed straight at his uncle.
I flinched at the words and rushed to push myself up immediately. I tried to divert the curse by shoving Sebastian to the ground, but my efforts failed as I fell on top of him. The spell struck, and everything seemed to pause for a moment as Sebastian's wand fell from his grasp.
"Sebastian!" I cried out, gleaming down at him. His face was contorted with anger, and there was not an inch of remorse written on his features. "Why?" I sobbed.
There was no turning back from this, it was over. I couldn't believe my eyes. Everything seemed to spin, and fear eddied in my gut as I tried to come to terms with what had just transpired.
Sebastian Sallow had just murdered his uncle.
The man I adored was now a murderer.
"Now he can no longer lay his hands on me, now he is nothing." Sebastian hissed as he pushed me away.
I knew that Solomon had been violent with Sebastian growing up, and I had witnessed the terrifying extent of his anger, but I never thought Sebastian had it in him. It seemed all the hatred and trauma had built up over the years, and it all came pouring out in this one horrific event.
"Depulso!" Anne shouted, casting Sebastian across the catacomb. Then with the swift movement of her wand she finished off the last of the Inferi.
Even laying down on the Catacomb floor, utterly unable to collect himself, that same look of fury painted Sebastian's features.
I was on the ground as tears gently fell from my eyes. What had Sebastian become?
"Bombarda!" Anne shouted towards the spell book, destroying it in our midst.
