Chapter-02

A man in his mid-20s stepped out of his car, hazel eyes scanning the surroundings. He stretched his arms and glanced at the passenger seat, where a lady in her late 40s sleeping peacefully, lost in her own world. Walking another side of the car, he opened the passenger door.

“Mom, wake up! We’re here,” he called gently. The woman slowly opened her eyes, looking at her son through sleepy eyelids. “Did we reach, Tae?” she asked in her hoarse voice.

“Yes,” he replied with a soft smile. “Now let’s get out.” Kim Heesun, his mother, stepped out of the car and observed their new surroundings with curious eyes. “Can we go now?” Taehyung asked, and Heesun nodded in response. They both headed toward their apartment on the fifth floor.

As they stood inside the elevator, strange feeling settled in taehyung's heart. It was elusive, something he couldn’t figure out. Yet, he chose to ignore it, and stepped out of the elevator when they reach the fifth floor!!

As they stood in front of their door, their attention shifted to the opposite apartment. Its door was adorned with colorful cartoon stickers, adding a playful touch to the hallway.
They both chuckled, finding it cute. Taehyung unlocked their new apartment with the key. Heesun was already desperate to meet her neighbors, but she decided to wait until after some rest. They entered the house and took a quick house tour. Heesun liked the interior and everything about the apartment.

“Did you like it, Mom?” Taehyung asked.

“Of course, I loved it, Tae!” she replied excitedly. “I only bought this apartment because of you, Mom. Otherwise, I would have bought a separate house here in Seoul,” Taehyung said with a sigh.

“Ahh, don’t make me remember that again, Tae! I’ll be so bored there after you go to your so-called office. Living alone in a big mansion surrounded by four walls is incredibly dull. But look here—I have a lot of people to talk to and pass the time!” Heesun said cheerfully, her excitement palpable.

“But don’t get too close to anyone, Mom! They might harm you, okay?” Taehyung cautioned.

“I’m not a baby, Tae!” Heesun protested with a whine.

“Yeah, I can see that from your behavior,” Taehyung replied, a bright smile on his face.

“I’m your mother!” Heesun stated firmly.

“I know,” Taehyung chuckled.

“Then go get ready quickly! You have to go to the office today, right? I’ll whip up something for breakfast,” Heesun said.

“Should I arrange some maids for the house chores, Mom?” Taehyung asked, concern in his voice.

“No thanks, mister! I’ll manage everything myself. But if you’re that desperate to bring someone here, then please find a daughter-in-law for me. Having a partner would make everything easier!” She said with a suggestive smile.

Hearing her, Taehyung walked away, seemingly ignoring her existence. While Heesun shook her head, unable to understand the reason for Taehyung’s hesitancy towards his marriage.

Meanwhile, in Taehyung’s room:

As he escaped from his mother’s teasing, a small tear escaped his eye for some unknown reason.

What could be the reason behind Taehyung's hesitation?
