tuesday, september 12th, 2023 - bishop high school - miami, florida
it's my second hour now
i have niko with me today, last night was a hard night for him he came and got in my bed basically clinging onto as i was grading papers, then this morning he woke up with me still clinging onto me
he cried when i got into the shower and told him he's not taking one with me
he gets like this every few months his therapist, my grandparents, and i have tried to ask him about it but he never talks about it
i'm worried about my baby
right now he's on his learning tablet
he has two different tablets one for strictly learning and his ipad that he uses for youtube, tiktok, games, facetime, and any streaming services
he uses the learning tablet more though
"coach g can you help me" i heard one of my students ashton ask i looked up at her she's also in the same friend group as the 12th grade boys and draco "what do you need help with" i asked "history" she said "alright let me see" i said she gave me the paper i read over all of it
it was an opinion question about the salem witch trials
"it's as question about how you feel about the salem witch trials" i said "i don't fully know anything about the trials" she said i gave her a small history lesson of the year, what caused everything that happened, how many people were accused, how many people were found guilty and how many were put to death
"so the question is asking how do you think this changed america's history and was it a good or bad thing" i said "ok thank you" she said "you're welcome" i smiled
"you know that the teacher said we weren't allowed to read about it yet, i asked draco since we're in the same class and he said ask you since you know about the trials" she said "history is one of my favorite subjects, i wrote about the trials in college" i said she nodded her head we talked a bit longer then she left to start working
i looked down seeing niko sleep on his nap mat with his blanket over him i shook my head and reached down to take his tablet but left on his noise canceling headphones
i turned some soft sounds on in his headphones then turned off his tablet
i asked my grandpa if he could make a trip to niko's school to pick up his assignment for the day and if he could bring us lunch
"veli we have 5 new kids in 6th hour" i heard eric say "do you have their names" i asked "5 boys their last name is newton" he said "alright, do they start today" i asked "yeah, they got added to the roster during last hour" he said i nodded my head
