Adam POV:
‘So…This is how I die again, huh..?’
That was all I thought as I laid on the ground, staring at the red sky of Hell. I got stabbed multiple times by the little maid bitch from behind. Not how I thought I’d go.
I don’t hear much, but I hear Lute’s wails of despair. I see her running towards me and calling my name. I looked at her, for a moment, I didn’t see her. My vision turned Lute into someone else. Someone I never thought I’d see again.
My beloved Eve.
She stared worriedly at me, for a moment, the background becoming our home. Eden. Her face reminded me of when I had a nightmare and would always wake up in a panic. Her face…Her eyes…They haunted me to this day.
I just smiled at her. It had been so long since I had seen her. I didn’t know where she was once she died. I never saw her in Heaven, and none of the Exterminators reported seeing her in Hell. So I assumed she was somewhere else…distancing herself from others. She was always like that whenever she wasn’t comfortable around strangers. She was only ever comfortable around Me, Lilith and…..Lucifer.
My vision changed again. I saw Lute where Eve was. But she flew away. Leaving me to rot on the ground, dying. I was silently seething, but I didn’t do much. I was too weak too.
I looked up to see Lucifer, Vaggie and Charlie over me. I whispered silently one last thing as I took my final breath. Something I never thought I’d ever say. A thing I long forbade myself to do.
“...I’m….I’m sorry….”
And then I blacked out, my life flashing before my eyes as memories of everything played in my head once more.
