In the Final episode of weirdmagedon Mabel was killed by Bill Cipher!
As we see in the last one Mabel would have died if it weren't for Ford and Stanley's plan to stop him.
However the original thought was Mabel actually died and Stanley and Stanford failed to defeat Bill before she died.
After Bills defeat Dipper wasn't able to live with the thought of Mabel's death.

Dipper then went back in time with a special request from Blendin and changed certain events in time to save Mabel's life and prevent her death.

Michael Rianda One of the other creators of Gravity falls along with Alex Hirsch. He posted a video revealing a box of old Gravity Falls junk he found.
And in this box was a script for a season two episode of Gravity Falls. In this episode Dipper and Mabel find a trail of blood leading into the woods. Dipper and Mabel follow the blood and discover it leads to..... Dipper?
Dipper asks who the heck this other guy is and it is revealed this is future Dipper.
Future Dipper reveals how he came from the future where Mabel is DEAD and it's his fault. Future Dipper says he wants to tell him more but he has to return to his time.
He gives Dipper a piece of paper with a code on it and tells him to never tell Mabel what it says. He tells him this code says how Mabel dies and he has to prevent it.
