Manong, keep the change.”

She was in the middle of a photo shoot for her upcoming film when she received a sudden call from her father’s driver. Her father had become unconscious and needed to be rushed to the hospital. With a heavy heart, she informs the crew of the unforeseen emergency, halting the photo shoot and leaving everyone on set in a state of confusion and empathy.

Dressed in her wedding gown from the interrupted photo shoot, Ayah hurried through the hospital corridors,  she couldn’t help but notice the curious gazes of the people around her. But Ayah pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on one thing- reaching her father’s side.

             “Parang familiar sya sakin.”

“Parang nakita ko na sya dati, teka”

“Hindi ba sya artista?… Tama! Sya yun. Anayah Arquero. Isa yang artista.”

“Eh ano naman ang ginagawa nya rito? Bat sya naka gown”

In her haste, she accidentally bumped into someone, but she quickly apologized without even looking at who it was. “I’m sorry,” sabi niya at pinagpatuloy ang lakad- takbong pagmamadali niya.

After a few moments, she found the room she was looking for. She opened the door and couldn’t hold back the tears that had been welling up inside her.

“Daddy,” her voice cracked as she held her father’s hand. “Dad, your baby is here. Please wake up.” Her father remained unconscious, and seeing him in that state broke her heart.

Anong nangyari, Gil?” She tried to calm herself as she gave him a sharp look. Her father wouldn’t be in the hospital for no reason.

She could see the worry in his eyes, knowing he cared for her father as well.

“No, it’s not your fault. You did your job. Thank you for calling me immediately and for bringing dad here,” she slightly smiled at him.

Gil was a loyal driver who had been with them since she was a child. Among all the people surrounding her, he was one of the few her father trusted.

“Walang ano man po ma’am.” Sabi nito at yumuko ng bahagya.

“Where’s Lira?” She asked. Lira was her father’s secretary. Surely, Lira would know what happened to her dad.

Just then, the door opened, and the doctor entered.
