Reuniting (Update)

You woke up in a taxi, groggy and disoriented. A voice was yelling your name.

Y/n: "Uhhh, what...?"

Taxi Driver: "I said, we've arrived at your destination, sir!"

Fully waking up, you realized where you were.

Y/n: "Oh, right... sorry."

You fumbled for your wallet, paid the driver, grabbed your bags, and stepped out onto familiar ground. Standing outside the Mushroom Kingdom castle, you felt a wave of nostalgia hit you hard.

Y/n: "Damn... this place hasn't changed a bit."

The last time you stood here was in 2018, and since then, you had changed a lot. Back then, you were just a geeky kid with dreams, but after years of hard work, you had transformed. You were more confident, more social, and had experienced a huge glow-up. You were proud of how far you had come.

As you walked toward the front door, excitement mixed with nervousness. You were about to see SMG4, your best friend, after all these years. You'd missed the adventures you had together. You'd followed his success on YouTube and felt proud that he was living his dream.

Y/n: (At least he fulfilled his dreams...)

You hadn't been so lucky. College had been rough, and despite making it onto the basketball team and finding some success, you'd had to drop out due to your grades. It wasn't easy to think about, but you tried to shake it off as you reached the door.

After knocking, someone opened the door, but you couldn't quite make out who it was.

???: "Uh, can I help you?"

That voice... you recognized it. Then it clicked—it was SMG4, but he looked different.

Y/n: "Dude, you already forgot about me?"

He stared for a second before his eyes lit up with recognition.

SMG4: "Oh my god, Y/n?!"

You both grinned and hugged, a long-overdue reunion.

SMG4: "I didn't even recognize you! You've changed—in a good way, of course."

You chuckled.

Y/n: "Yeah, man, life got serious, had to lock in, you know? But you've changed too! You've been busy, huh?"

For a moment, his smile faded.

SMG4: "Yeah... there's more to that, but I'll tell you later. C'mon, come inside! You've missed a lot."

As you stepped inside, memories flooded back. The place felt familiar but different—just like you. The main room was filled with some new faces, but most were people you recognized. As soon as they noticed you, Mario sprinted toward you with his usual enthusiasm.

Mario: "Y/n! Mama mia, I thought you were dead!" He tackled you in a hug.

SMG4: "Mario, for the last time, he didn't disappear, he went to college!"

Tari: "Y/n! You're back!" She gave you a tight hug. "You've changed so much!"

Y/n: "Thanks! It's good to see you too."

As you made your way through the group, you noticed a striking orange-haired girl. She looked familiar but... different. You stared for a second before realizing who it was.

Y/n: "Wait... Meggy? Is that you?"

Her smile faltered slightly.

Meggy: "Yeah, it's me. Things have... changed."
