Nobita lies awake in his bed, staring up at the ceiling and tossing and turning in his bed. The sound of thunder outside only added fuel to his inability to sleep. His mind was filled with worries and anxiety, mostly about Shizuka. He had grown used to her constant rejections and had finally come to accept them, but the pain of rejection still stung.
As he stared up at the ceiling, deep thoughts and the feeling began to consume him. As the storm raged outside, thunder and lightning made Nobita restless. He continued to toss and turn in his bed, unable to get comfortable and sleep. As the storm continued, he could hear the raindrops tapping against the window and the thunderclap boomed in the distance. Nobita closed his eyes, and as he lay there in the dark, he started to think about his feelings for Shizuka.
As he thought about her constant rejections, deep feelings of hurt and insecurity bubbled up inside him. He began to wonder why he was never good enough for her. He became so consumed by the conclusions he got out of bed and began to pace on the floor, to get a better grip on his emotions. As he walked back and forth, he ruminated on his feelings of pain and insecurity. He could not get her out of his mind and felt desperately lonely.
He heard the blanket rustling, soon Nobita's elder brother Doraemon woke up and stared at him. Nobita looked away, while Doraemon's eyes bore in his soul. He is well aware of how bad the rejection from Shizuka is hurting him. Doraemon heavily sighs, yet his demeanor remains composed. He walked to Nobita and embraced him gently. He rubbed his hand on Nobita's back in order to comfort him. Thunderclap makes its presence known again.
"Everything will be alright, Nobita. Getting a rejection doesn't determine your future by any means.", he emphasized.
"Be brave. Endure this pain so that you could flourish in future. Right now you rest in the dark, but if you stay brave and resilient you'll retrieve your strength again. This isn't the Nobita I know. You aren't the Nobita I know. ", Doraemon huffed as Nobita cling to him, crying. Sensing his brother's emotional turmoil, he hugs him tighter. "I give up, I've no strength left to try anymore. Can't put up with the way she humiliated me. I just can't.", Doraemon's eyes welled up with tears as he heard his brother's words of defeat.
"SHHH- you won't say a word further, try sleeping now. Don't let this emotional turmoil consume you.",
Doraemon's heart bled when he asked his brother to sleep, no one ever left Nobita quite this sore. Being rejected by Shizuka was the last thing Nobita was expecting, the way Shizuka acted with him, made him think that there is more than just a friendly bond in between them. When Nobita confessed his feelings to her she rejected him straight up. Saying that she never felt something in a romantic way for the poor lovesick boy.
Nobita lies down in bed, while Doraemon covers him with a blanket. Nobita's face remained stern, there was not a single expression on his face, his eyes were red and swelled up. He closed his eyes forcefully. Doraemon remained silent, but tears welled up in his eyes again while he tried to maintain his cold demeanour, but seeing Nobita suffering made him the saddest man ever that existed. He returned to his bed hoping that Nobita would recover soon and drift to a relaxing slumber but even after an hour, he heard Nobita sobbing softly. The noise was soft and faint. And most probably Nobita thought that Doraemon was asleep, but there was no chance that Doraemon could sleep in peace when his brother was shattering.
He just prayed to the almighty that his sufferings end soon, he crossed himself before closing his eyes, he tried to sleep. He felt criminal to invade Nobita's personal space now as him comforting Nobita wasn't really helping. Doraemon heard Nobita's faint crying but he had no choice left but to leave him to fight the battle in his head alone. He sighed quietly and hoped for the best for Nobita.
The night seemed to strech long, ever minute felt like a whole eternity.
