After I returned to my room I finally picked up my phone. I had a missed call from Libby and a text from Sarah explaining that they won't be able to watch formula one with me because Libby has a date and she has to help a teacher with something.
"And it's lights out and away we go..." The race start was messy. The race was yellow flagged and safety car had come onto the track.
It was currently fifth lap under a safety car when I heard a knock on the door. I went to open the door and there stood two of Eli's band mates.
"We wanted to watch formula one in our room but half of our high school is our room watching a movie so we couldn't and then Eli said you're watching it so we're now here."I'm a 100% sure that one is Mike and the other is Steve.
"Yeah sure no problem I'm alone anyway so there is more than enough space." They take a seat on the left side of the couch and I return to my spot on the right.
Safety car finally moves back into pits and the race continues normally. I quickly learn they cheer louder than anyone I know. We're about halfway through the race when I again hear a knock at the door. I almost didn't hear over their yelling but somehow I did. Once again I move from my spot and towards the door.
"Hey, am I interrupting?" It was Eli who was standing in front of me.
"No you're not interrupting come in." I move to the side and he makes his way to the couch.
"Eli mate what are you doing here." Both of them are suprised to see him. Eli's still standing up while I make my way back to my spot on the right.
"I had enough. The room is so packed you can barely breathe and Bethany almost pushed her tongue down my troat at that was my final sign to leave. When will she get the hint. Earlier today she wouldn't leave me alone for five seconds and was then rude to Daisy who just wanted to work on our song and honestly I had enough of Bethany for the rest of my life so yeah I'm here." He finally takes a seat on the couch and we are sitting closer than I would like.
"I don't know mate to me it sounds like you need to find yourself a girlfriend and then she'll leave you alone." Steve gives me a wink and my cheeks go the same shade of red as the ferrari on the screen so I decide that it is for the best to focus my attention on the race in front of me instead.
It was fifteen laps to the end of the race when one of the drivers went into the wall. He was okay just shaken up but the wall wasn't, so the race was red flagged. Which meant all the drivers returned to their boxes and now we wait. I don't know how it happened but Eli's now laying on my thighs while I'm playing with his hair. Somewhere while we were watching the race Sarah returned and is now taking a nap so the boys can't yell at the tv anymore.
Forty five minutes had passed and the race was finally finished. It was the first time since the start that I looked at my phone.
"SHIT. Eli we're late. Like twenty minutes late. Shit shit shit shit." Eli is quick to stand up no longer laying on my thighs. I quickly grab my guitar and before you know it we're running to Elis room to get his guitar. We get downstairs to the seminar room in less than a minute.
When we enter the room goes silent and all three teachers give us a weird look.
"I'm so sorry we didn't look at the time and..." I start yapping but thankfully Eli stops me with a squeeze of my hand that has me immediately shutting up.
"The race we were watching got delayed and we didn't think the delay would make us late so we watched till the end which was a mistake and that's why we're late.." The way he speaks so calmly has me admiring him even more.
"Was it a ferrari double podium?" Michael is looking at us smiling clearly making light of the awkward situation.
"It sure was." My answer has him smiling and you can hear some other people laugh as well.
"Next time just make sure you aren't late." It's the woman with red hair that's speaking now. Me and Eli make our way to our seats and the opposite sides of the room. I don't miss the dirty looks I get but I definitely don't miss the killer look Bethany gives me.
