That day, when you returned home, you told your parents about your new found passion and begged them to book you a class at that studio.

Your parents seemed hesitant at first since ballroom was a sport that wasn't usually done by kids because it wasn't as "fun" as hip hop or other types of dancing. It had a strict and serious image in the eyes of outsiders.

But you insisted until your parents relented.
From that day, your love for the dance began and it never dimmed.

Like your parents had imagined, the dance wasn't very popular with kids so you were alone for the first year with only two other girls to keep you company who only seemed to do it because the other did and one of them was the teachers niece and they were best friends.

But you didn't really care. After the first year a boy joined the class after his mother's insistence and you two became fast friends.

You were probably the only reason he stayed the first few weeks until he accompanied your teachers to a competition and watched them dance.

After that he became as infatuated with the dance as you. You were partnered up pretty quickly since you two took the dance seriously and the other 2 girls left after realizing the boy wasn't interested in dancing with them.

After that your studio also relocated into a bigger dance school, joining with another ballroom class that was bigger with about 10 students, 6 girls and 4 boys. You were surprised about the large amount of boys since it was rare to see boys in dance in general, especially in something other than hip hop or break dance.

The dance school was very big, with many studios and much larger dance rooms to accommodate more students.

The next few years another couple joined your class and the two girls who had been dancing together because of the lack of male dancers in the class, left to pursue ballet together but stayed in the same building so you still talked often and spend the time before and after class together.

You guys were in the 3rd floor of the building which used to be used by your ballroom studio and 2 other classical dance studios who used the space on other days of the week. One of the studios closed shortly after your joined though so you had the space more often which was good because your studio became more and more professional as the years went by, starting with only one class on Fridays for all ages to now having multiple classes ,multiple times a week for diffrent ages and expirience levels, now you were " Ritmo y Pasión Dance Academy".

Nowadays no other studio used the space apart from you, only the floors over and under you being used by other studios.

As far as you knew the studio in the third, top floor was used by a school who taught modern dances like hip hop and break dance, the name was "Elevate Dance Studio".

And under you, on the first floor, with the biggest and most professional studio ,were the ballet dancers.
"Étoile School of Ballet"

Apparently the school was very prestigious and hard to be let into since you needed to be assessed first to see if you fit the standard.

When you were younger, you had tried ballet once but gave up fairly quickly. You found the dance boring and too rigid. On top of that you knew you weren't made for that type of dance. You body wasn't fragile and elegant, you weren't like a swan, lean and thin and flawless. Your body was strong and energetic with powerful legs made for the quick and fast steps of ballroom dance.

After one verbal roasting of your teacher in your first lesson you had quickly decided you did not like ballet teachers and the sport itself.

Your hatred had fizzled out over the years of course, you still didn't get the hype over ballet and still tought that teacher should have been fired for the talking to a 8 year old like that, but you saw the allure in the elegant dance.
