3rd person POV:
"AAAAAHHHHHHH"The screams of tortured patients ring out across the halls and through the walls of the asylum. Most patients, or inmates, as they call themselves, are used to it, but to one 13 year old, even after almost a year in the asylum, still wasn't used to it.
"God damn, those screams still give me the creeps" Y/N muttered under his breath. His cell mate, Darren, turned to him and smirked.
"No one is able to block them out until they're the ones screaming. Best pray to that God of yours, because when you get in that room, he ain't allowed in."
Y/N stared at him in shock.
"What the actual fu-"
Just then, he heard alarm bells ring out throughout all the facility. 'Good' he thought, 'somethings finally going my way'
Darren looked at him, still holding that smirk on his face.
"I've always wondered what you were in here for kid. So come on, tell me"
Y/N sighed. He hated telling it, but Darren was still the only person he had that was even close to a friend.
"If I tell you, will you help me escape?"
"That's what I was planning"
"Ok fine. A year ago I saw my mother get shot in front of me. A few days after that, I saw her again, but she was changed. Different. It was her but... not her. It was the same person, but this person wasn't my mother. So I ran and ran, until this guy stopped me and asked why I was running. Keep in mind I was still quite traumatised, so I told him everything. So he did the logical thing. He punched the 13 year old and knocked him out, shoved him in his van and drove me here, and before you ask no, he didn't do any weird stuff."
Darren looked at the boy, his face so still it could be carved from stone. He nodded.
"Thanks for telling me kid. I'm sorry to hear about your mom, but hey, while we escape, you ever tried Jack Daniels?"
The 2 ran outside to see if there was a way to escape and to see what was going on, but all they saw was death. Inmates, guards, staff, and soldiers for some reason. Y/N immediately threw up all of the jack he just took and dropped the bottle, shattering it.
Darren patted his back
"Don't worry kid, it's gonna be alright"
Y/N waved him away and did a thumbs up.
He heard Darren mutter something under his breath, but he didn't hear exactly, and frankly, all he cared about at the moment was getting a gun and getting out.
"Hey Darren, you find a gun yet?"
He called over to him.
He was hit in the eye with the barrel of a pistol immediately after.
"Thanks"
"No problem but let's get a move on kid, we got to move, and maybe we can find a church so you can rest."
"Thanks dude."
"Don't mention it, please, your voice is starting to annoy me."
They ran towards a hole in a wall that led to the wilderness, and with a nod to each other, both ran through.
