5 years had passed since Evelyn had to part ways with Young Justice. Part ways with her Robin.
When her mother first informed her about leaving the team, she refused to do so but her mother rejected her refusal. Leora insisted it was time to depart from the team since they were in great danger and threat. Evelyn was unaware of the reasons why they were in great jeopardy and even tried to pry the questions out of her mother but she was stubborn. All Evelyn knew was that an old nemisis of her father was out to hunt the two. The girl couldn't help but scoff at the fact that her father's enemy was still out to get her mother and herself, especially since he was the reason her father was murdered in cold blood.
Her mother had briefed to Justice League and Young Justice about their departure but they were adamant on letting the mother daughter duo leave. They insisted that they would be much safer in the presence of both the adults and the young ones who fight justice. However, Leora was determined to flee away from them because she refused to put them at risk of being endangered because of her husband's foe.
Robin detested the idea of his loved one abandoning the team. The team that engulfed her in endless laughter and hysterics over the 2 years the boy or the others would never be able to forget. The team that welcomed her and made her part of a family. A family she always seeked for.
The masked boy loathed how he wouldn't be there for Evelyn when she would be in significant peril. He feared that maybe, he would never be able to see his beautiful girl ever again. It split his heart into shreds but he knew he had to conceal his wary emotions for his love. For his Evelyn. He needed to remain strong and valorous. Because he knew if his girl saw how anxious he was, she'd refuse to desert her team her strict mother ordered her to do so.
"I guess this is goodbye then." Evelyn's teary gaze remained glued to the floor as she spoke her final words to her Birdie.
"I won't say goodbye." Startled by the boys words, her head snapped up to meet his own masked orbs which obscured his majestic ocean orbs from her.
"Wha- what do you mean?" Her voice broke as she awaited for his answer, stray tears slipping down her rosy cheeks.
"I'll see you later." Perplexed at Robin's words, a small smile crept on her lips causing her to chuckle before slapping the boy's chest lightly.
"You bitch. You fucking scared me." A grin rested on her boyfriend's face as he pulled her in a cozy hug. Immediately, Evelyn's body relaxed in his embrace allowing her heart to begin to go back to its original rhythm.
"I don't care how long it'll take for you to return but when you do, we'll be waiting. I'll be waiting for you, my love." He pulled her away from him, caressing both of her cheeks in the palms of his hands before leaning down, their lips molding together for the last time. Silent tears streamed down Evelyn's rosy cheeks as she allowed herself to relax in the kiss, savoring their final kiss until they had to soon part from eachother. Retracting from her lips, Robin rested his forehead against her own, their warm breaths fanning against each others faces.
