You woke up to the gentle glow of sunlight streaming through your bedroom window. The castle was still shrouded in quiet, and you savored the stillness as you made your way to the kitchen, preparing breakfast with the practiced ease of someone used to early mornings. After finishing your meal, you moved to the main room, settling onto the couch and eating in thoughtful silence, wondering how to fill the day ahead. Once done, you went through your usual morning workout, followed by a refreshing shower. When you returned, you found Mario and SMG4 had finally woken up and were starting their own breakfasts.
SMG4 yawned, offering you a groggy greeting.
"Good morning, Y/N.""Good morning, guys," you replied.
Mario, with his face buried in a plate of spaghetti, barely seemed to notice. You chuckled and started a conversation.
"Kissing my teeth in boredom," you muttered with a grin, "I don't know what to do today. What are you guys up to?"
Setting his coffee mug down, SMG4 turned to you, looking a bit worn out.
"Sigh I've got to prep some stuff for a new video I'm working on. Mario here will be reacting to some memes."The mention of memes brought Mario to life—his head shot up, spaghetti forgotten as he yelled, "BOIIIIIIIIII!"
SMG4 gave you a sympathetic look.
"You really have nothing planned?"You shrugged, feeling a flicker of frustration. "I was hoping to hang out with you guys, but it looks like you've both got work to do."
SMG4's suggestion came with a smirk.
"Maybe stop being a bum and get a job."He stood up, stretching before heading off to his room.
"I better get started if I want this video done today. Come on, Mario."With that, SMG4 and Mario left, leaving you alone with your thoughts. After a moment, you decided to take a walk and visit your old town—it felt like a good way to pass the time.
As you strolled along, the sight of the familiar city skyline stirred a pang of nostalgia, quickly tinged with disappointment. The city hadn't changed much at all; everything seemed frozen in time. You sighed, crossing the idea off your mental list. But then a new thought sparked in your mind.
Y/n: (Maybe Inkpolis has changed more than this place. The Inklings are usually more advanced then these little shit stains)
With a bit of renewed excitement, you made your way toward the pipe that led to Inkpolis, imagining how different the city might look now. Emerging from the other side, you felt a rush of anticipation—only to feel it quickly deflate.
"Damn it," you muttered under your breath.
Inkpolis looked almost exactly the same as when you'd last seen it. You sighed, but your stomach reminded you it was time to eat.
Y/n: (Well, I'm already here. Might as well grab a bite.)
Your thoughts turned to memories of Crusty Sean's place and the unique food he served. You smiled, feeling a little nostalgic as you walked through the familiar streets.
Y/n: (Finally, a good idea—Crusty Sean's!)
But when you arrived, you were met with a locked door. Confused, you leaned closer and spotted a sign taped to the front:
"PERMANENTLY CLOSED DUE TO LACK OF CUSTOMERS."
You sighed deeply.
Y/n: "You can't make this shit up."Turning around, you noticed a few Inklings casting curious glances your way, probably because you'd tried to enter a long-closed establishment. Ignoring them, you walked further into the city, staring down at the ground in mild frustration.
