A Sword Art Online Adventure

Chapter 5

           Today was the day of the ball so i was pretty excited, it's not everyday i get to dress up in a big beautiful ball gown and dance with friends in the middle of a fantasy castle! i'm currently helping Nico get ready by helping him with his suit and attempting to get his hair nice and neat which isn't going too well for me. i was hoping Gabe would show up but also doubted it seeing as we are in rival guilds and didn't think he'd risk coming here just to see me. i shrugged and continued helping Nico and once i was done i left to get myself ready. i put on a beautiful floor length black and purple ball gown and a black lace mask as per the requirements for the party and i did my hair in its usual ponytail style except i did it in a way that made it look fancier. the party had started by the time i was finally finished getting ready and i walked into the courtyard where the party was and i met up with Mia and Nico and looked around at everyone and smiled i couldn't tell who everyone was which was the point of it which was cool, there were a ton of handsome  men and beautiful women it made me feel a bit overwhelmed with how many people showed up. i looked at Nico and grabbed his hand and walked over to the dance floor and started dancing with him to the energetic music making him laugh as i did some silly moves. we danced until i accidentally bumped into someone, "oh jeez i'm sorry i didn't mean to bump into you....." i say as i stare into the beautiful brown eyes of a man. he laughs, "no problem beautiful i wasn't paying attention so its really my fault." jeez he was charming and reminded me a lot of Gabe. I smile and blush "so what brings you here?" i ask awkwardly, he laughs and smiles at me, "well it is a party and i kinda came here to find someone but totally forgot masks were mandatory so i can't exactly find her easily anymore." he says scratching the back of his neck awkwardly, he looks at me. "well would you like to dance with me?" "oh well if your looking for your girlfriend i don't want to overstep." "well were not exactly dating unfortunately, our guilds are rivals so we have to sneak around so maybe tonight will be different if i could just find her that is."  i give him a confused look. "yeah but i would still feel like i'm overstepping sooo..." "you wouldn't be plus i think you could help me  find her two is better than one when looking for someone or something. so care to dance with me?" he asks again. i give him a small smile. "sure but what does this girl look like so i can help find her." i say, "well she has beautiful long blonde hair and hazel eyes and a smile that lights up a room." he says. "actually you look just like her." he says leaning closer to me. for some reason it just hit me that this man looks just like Gabe and could possibly be him making me panic a little bit because he isn't wearing the most subtle suit ever i mean he does have his guilds emblem stitched into his pocket square and it's not exactly small either. Mia's POV: "hey Nico who's that guy dancing with Carly? i ask the small boy eating next to me. "no clue but look his pocket square has the Crimson Dragons Guild emblem on it!" he says loudly. i get mad but then again she can be pretty oblivious to small details sometimes. i start walking over to her but get caught up in a dance with a man on my way there but still try to make my way over quickly. "i'm hoping she's not the one seeing someone from that guild i don't want to kick her out." i say to myself. Carly's POV: i look over and see Mia coming towards me with a concerned look on her face making me panic more. "i have to go i'm getting  too warm and i promised a friend i'd meet them back at their house soon i'm so sorry it was lovely getting to know and help you." i say as i start to run away from the man. he runs after me and catches up to me once i reach the garden behind my guild. he grabs my arm and pulls me towards him and as he does he takes off his mask i let out a small gasp and try getting away even more as i see Mia come out of the building looking around probably looking for me. i was looking at Gabe and his eyes widen as my mask slips off and onto the ground. "Gabe we need to run, Mia is right there we'll get into so much trouble if she sees us together." i say worriedly. Gabe gives me a face full of pain and confusion then it turns to anger. "look Gabe I'm sorry okay this guild is the only family i have okay i'm so so sorry." i say as tears fall from my eyes, he gives me a hurt look and walks away from me. i fell to the ground and cry as i watch him walk away and probably back to his guild. Mia walks up to me. "who was that?" someone i thought i could be in love with but hes in the crimson dragons so it'd never work out." i say with sorrow. Mia squats down next to me. "i'm sorry Carly it's not fair but maybe you'll find someone better and someone not in our rival guild." she said giving me a tissue and hugging me. "come on lets get you to bed Nico's bout to head to bed too." she says leading me back inside and towards my room. Nico was sitting on a bench in the hall so he followed me into my room after seeing me visibly upset. "What happened?" he asked sitting at my desk. i give him a sad look. "well Nico i fell in love with the enemy and i just ended things with him it would't work with our fued so i didn't want to get too attached and get hurt if people found out and we go kicked out of our guilds." i say with a sigh. "soo who was the guy? do i know him?" he asks. "yeah you do actually he's the guy who stood up for us the day we met." i say with a small smile appearing on my face from the memory of meeting both Nico and Gabe. "oh that sucks i actually liked him he was the only nice guy there that day." he says, "so i'm guessing you are the person who Mia's been looking for." he says. i nod, "yeah i am but it's over between us so you don't need to worry about telling her anymore." he nods in agreement. "i wouldn't have anyways to be honest i think everyone deserves to be happy no matter what even if they're with a member of our enemy guild." he says making me smile. i get up and hug him, "well it's time for bed so goodnight Nico i love you bud sleep well hun." i say as i hug him and kiss the top of his head as our usual goodnight routine. he walks out and i lock my door and change and fall into bed and into a restless sleep.
