Long, blonde hair. A white shirt, and most importantly, a Primrose in her hair.
"Oh Peeta, it's beautiful!" I exclaim, giving him a big hug. "Where should we hang it?"
"How about, right above our dresser?" he says. I smile and nod, fighting back tears. He hangs the delicately painted portrait of Prim above our dresser.
"I love you, you know that?" I ask, smiling at my husband. He nods, then out of nowhere, picks me up.
"No, it's new information" he jokes, and pecks me on the lips. "I love you too, you know that. And I'm sorry that I lose control sometimes." There is no mistaking the sadness on his face. He can't control what the capital made him. What President Snow made him.
"It's not your fault" I say as he lets me down. "You've done so much good for this family, thank you. I'm going to go pick the kids up from school! Love you!"
"Love you too, bye honey". He winks at me and I go. I am wearing a dress Effie had given me at Prim's funeral. I really shouldn't be wearing it if I am trying to forget my past, but it's hard not too. It's a reminder of everyone I love, which used to be very difficult for me. The air smells like dew, it feels damp. Rain. Willow loves the rain. She says it's god's tears, and that it's good for everyone to cry every once in a while. Willow, such an optimist. I love her to death, but she'd even find a bright side to The Hunger Games.
The games. I should not be thinking about this. It's only breaking the one rule I made so I can have a happy life. Forget, forget, forget. I'm trying to but now I can't. All I can remember is Rue, Finnick, Cinna. Finnick... Annie. Annie must be so upset, still. It must be so hard. Annie, poor Annie. Annie! Annie is visiting today. Now I'm running. The kids love Aunt Annie. I call her that because it's nice for them to know they have another family member, or a close friend at least.
"Mommy, mommy!" Willow calls. She jumps into my arms and gives me a big hug. "PJ is inside, you get him, I'll wait here with my friend Lulu."
"Okay, you are growing up into an independent young... how old are you again? You seem to be so old I forgot your age!" I say sarcastically, just so she can feel independent.
"7 mommy, 7!".
"Oh, that's right, 7. See you soon big bear." I walk into the school building, looking for PJ. I yell his name a couple of times but I get no response. But then I hear something, little whimpers. "PJ!" I yell. I run through the hallways, turning many corner, and then I see him. He doesn't seem to be harmed, but he looks so scared. "Oh my baby, what's wrong?"
"Someone... wanted me... to... give you this... note...", and he hands me a piece of paper.
"Okay, thank you honey, but why are you crying?".
"Because he... said if I didn't... I'd die."
Dear Katniss Everdeen,
I know exactly who you are, and you know who I am.
meet me at the hanging tree at 10 p.m. tonight... or someone dies.
Tell whoever you want, they can't trace me down.
xoxo
Peeta and I have read this note at least 15 times, and we still have no idea who it's from, or why they'd want to meet. Peeta refuses to let me go, he says he can't risk losing me now that he has me. I argue and say that we will be responsible for who knows how many deaths. My fault. Annie doesn't know what to do either. We didn't plan on telling her, but as soon as she came in she could tell something was wrong.
