Kamal
"Thank you for helping me clean anty binta" I smiled at her with gratitude.
"Anything for my son" she smiled wide. She walked slowly to her car.
"I'll send you some food later." She said as she started her car.
"But I can cook my own food, don't stress yourself" I said with chuckled.
"Noodles and restaurant food is not good food. They don't taste like home cooked food" she said making a face. She really doesn't like restaurant food. She eyes the food with a disgusting look.
I waved her good bye as she zoomed off my compound.
My phone immediately rang.
I checked the caller id and pinched my temples."Yes?" I answered
"Look woman, I've nothing to do with you. It's either you leave me alone or you'll regret it" I said and cut off the call. My phone rang twice but I didn't pick up. After a while it rang again and I picked.
"Just don't call me again" I screamed
"It's Amani" her lazy stern voice sounded through the phone. I looked at the caller id and then put the phone back to my ear .
"Oh I'm sorry about that." I mumbled. I never mumbled. Well Sophie knows I mumbled but not any other.
"Everything alright?" I heard her ask.
"Yeah it's just work" I clenched my teeth.
"Ok...I just returned home and no one is here. Where's abba?"
"Well I think he went out for work" I answered unsure if he's really at work. He's supposed to be back by now.
"He's not at work, it's already past closing time" she said. Well she's right.
"And where are you, you're not back to Malaysia are you ??
"And what if I am?" I find myself asking
"But we've talked about this" she said silently.
"No we didn't. My flight got cancelled remember" i pointed out fact.
"Where are you Kamal?" She asked again.
"Food is in the warmer. If it's cold put it in the microwave. Later." I said and hung up.
I sat on my chair in the study. God I've missed this place. It held alot of memories. I took out my laptop to work. I bury myself with work and only took breaks to pray. After Isha prayers I went ahead to orhan's house.
I walked in, knocked before twisting the knob.
"Assalamu alaikum" I said upon entering the house. I hear rushing on the stairs. I sat on the couch unbothered. I focused on the movie playing on the TV screen.
"Good evening Kamal" amani's voice sounded breathless.
"Evening" I nodded. "Why are you breathless?" I pointed out
"Nothing for you to know" she shrugged and sat on the one sitter away from me.
"How was school today?" I suddenly asked.
"You sound like mum" she pouted.
"Well I'm her son afterall" I chuckled softly. Which made amani chuckled.
" Yeah she always says that, she told me stories about the two of you going for adventures, picnics, the park. How you guys met abba and so on." She smiled.
"Yeah we had alot of memories together. There were happy and sad moments. But we stood together. And we still are"
Her eyes softened and I smiled.
