Aegon sighed. There was an uncomfortable warmth to the air. It wasn't hot enough to make him sweat but his skin felt muggy and warm meaning there was no way for him to find a comfortable position as he lounged across his large bed.

He found a frustrating moment to still himself. He could hear the birds in the trees near his window. The sound of the servants and guests of the Red Keep going about their lives. That wasn't what had disturbed him though. Letting the heat lul him back to sleep he could hear the faint sound of his breath catching comfortably as if someone else on the other side of the room were snoring. It occurred to him that he was falling asleep in an odd hazy way before he slipped back into an uncomfortable doze. His eyes snapped open when the door thumped open.

"I am right!" You seethed out. The sound of your voice, higher and more enraged than usual. It whipped through the hazy afternoon like a thunder crack. That was what had roused him, he thought to himself. Yes. He had heard the faint bickering between you and Aemond he was certain of it. No doubt an argument started in the library of the keep, travelled towards the queen's rooms and passed the courtyard on the way. His room was close enough that with the windows open and the quiet the heat had caused, what with everyone desperate to keep to the cooler parts of their usual routes, that he would have heard any shouting. He closed his eyes again and began to doze, half listening to what was going on but in truth putting more effort into falling back asleep than defending either of you from the other.

"It was in the books! The Maester agreed with me." Aemond was smug and Aegon could hear the slight twist of a smirk on his brother's face as he spoke. There was silence for a moment and Aegon shifted the sheets around his leg and moved to a cooler spot. A mistake as it drew your attack to him.

"Aegon!" You addressed him with the same tone as you had Aemond and the edge of his bed dipped as you leaned on it.

"What have I done to be involved in this?" He grumbled and rubbed his face with the heel of his hand. When he looked up at you he could see you were hot with irritation and there was a disturbingly determined look on your face. He glanced at Aemond who was leaning on the wall near the door to his rooms. He was picking at a bundle of grapes in his hands. Aegon assumed that this argument had been taken to his mother and perhaps his grandfather, their dismissal leading your row to him. Sighing he stretched out on his back and looked at you gesturing for more information if you weren't going to absolve him of your presence. "Go on then."

"Would I rather be feared or loved?" You asked. Aegon frowned and looked at Aemond again. Aemond chuckled as he popped a grape in his mouth and looked between the two of you. "Aemond says fear but he's wrong."

"If he is wrong, why are you asking me?" Aegon grumbled. You huffed and crossed your arms.

"Because I want to prove I am right!" You said as if it were a very obvious answer. Aegon nodded slowly and let out a long sigh.

"Would I rather be feared or loved? Umm... easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." He flashed you a wicked grin and you rolled your eyes.

"Should know better than to ask you anything clever." You grumbled under your breath. Aegon scoffed out a laugh.

"Go and find someone to bring me food and drink will you?" He said and gestured to shoo you out of the room.

"No." You said with a smug twirl and headed to the door.

"If I agree with you will you do it?" He called and you stopped next to Aemond at the door.

"No. But you should still agree with me." You grinned and turned back to the door which Aemond opened for you. "Besides Aegon, it will be time for dinner soon."

Ageon groaned as he rolled over, gesturing lazily towards the two of you as you fled his rooms. He yawned, rolled over and was asleep before the door had thumped shut.
