It's weird how one person can change an entire life.
How a meeting, a pure coincidence can turn everything on its head.
How something that really shouldn't have happened in the first place, can affect you the rest of your life.
How the fact that being in the wrong place at the wrong time can cast such a horrible fate upon you.
How such a tiny accident can determine you future.
How everything can get fucked up so bad, so fast ...
Blair
The blood spurted.
She screamed and writhed in pain. Her eyes were wide-open and staring terrified at it, where it stood over her. Scrambling back on the gravel, she desperately tried to get away as fast as she could. It quickly put its weight on top of her beaten body and nailed her to the ground. She gasped and screamed. It crunched sharply as her ribs broke. An almost bestial howls pushed out of her punctured lungs. It laughed and raised its weapon. The blade glistened in bloody crimson. She suddenly caught sight of me as I ran towards them. Her large eyes filled with tears. She stretched out her arm like she was trying to reach me. "Help ..." she whimpered weakly. I ran as fast as I could. My hand shot out and I chanted the spell under my breath. I had to make it. I had to ...
The blade stabbed into her skull.
I stopped. My whole body stiffened and went ice cold.
The dagger pressed so deep into her head that the blood squeezed out through any possible openings, eyes, nose, ears and mouth. The grotesque sight caused me to stumble backward. I couldn't breathe, I just stared. The laughter tore through the air and the creature struck the weapon energetically into her body, again and again. The horrible images flickered before my eyes. Burned themselves into my memory forever. I shook my head in disbelieve.
No, this couldn't be happening. This couldn't be happening!
"Stop!" I screamed. "STOP!"My eyes opened. I gasped and jerked in my seat.
My heart beat hard in my chest. It dawned on me that something warm was running down my cheek. In confusion I stroked it away with a finger. It came back wet. Had I cried? I exhaled in annoyance and wiped my cheeks with the back of my hand Great... Runny mascara... Just what I needed. Irritated I turned my head and looked out the window.
There it was. The city that from now on would be my home, for a short period of time at least. A sense of nostalgia went through my mind. How many years had it been now? Ten? Twenty? It hadn't changed much. A couple of new buildings had been built, but otherwise it was the same old bunch of houses, shops and people as back then. I leaned my head back and peered forwards in the bus. There were only a handful of passengers onboard. Most of them were lost in their own world. Some stared sluggishly out the window, others listened to music, and some slept quietly in their seats. Crossed my legs I glanced down at the coat where it laid curled up in the seat next to me.
The bus turned down towards the city and people started gathering their stuff quietly. When we finally arrived at the bus stop, the door opened and everyone stood up and walked off. I stood up as well, stretched my upper body and grabbed my coat. After pulling it on, I then grabbed my luggage and dragged it down the stairs.
A wall of sunshine met me on the outside. I squinted and studied my surroundings. The bus stop was a rather miserable corner outside an old community building. It was practically deserted, even though it was early in the morning. I took a deep breath and inhaled some of the cool morning air. Well, here I was again, I guess. After so many years...
The breeze caught my hair, ruffling it up. With a sign I took one of the hairbands from my wrist, wrapped the thick curly hair together in a messy bun, and twisted the rubber band firmly around it. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than nothing. I fixed the purse strap so it hung more comfortably, stuck my hand down and fished up my phone. Now I needed to remember the address, not to mention finding the right building. I glanced down at the screen and began to wander along the sidewalk. The bag dangled from my shoulder and periodically bounced against my thigh.
