Have you ever wondered, 'What comes after death?' I have asked myself that question a lot. Some people believe you'll get either sent to heaven or hell, depending on karma. While there are people who believe in reincarnation,. Of course, there are tons more but these are the only two beliefs I know of. And it seemed like reincarnation does exist. Well, at least in this case...

My body went stiff; it felt as if it were on fire as I slowly yet carefully removed the screwdriver which pierced my torso. Looking at myself, I was leaning against the wall of my apartment, nothing fancy, covered in my crimson blood. Looking deeper, As you can tell, I was stabbed with a screwdriver. My heart pounded yet it was slowly dying down. "It burns," I muttered. "It's so unbearable... I can't understand how anime characters are about to withstand this,"

To sum up my life, I'm a 16-year old. Although I spent my life in my studies,. I live in a run-down yet tolerable apartment, with my only companion being an otter, who I see at my part-time job at a zoo. I spent most of my teen years studying animals for fun and reading classic novels, which made me sometimes talk like an elder. Embarrassingly.

I felt the heat continue to rise as I silently cursed at it. "It burns! Dammit!" I felt sweat trickle down my face as I continued to feel as if I were on fire.

Suddenly, a mysterious yet feminine voice was heard. "Confirmed. Heat Resistance acquisition successful,"

"Huh? Who's there? Or is this just an illusion or a piece of my imagination?" I attempted to look up. Although the pain of the wound prevented me from moving much. "Hmp! It hurts..."

The feminine voice started to speak once again, and although listening closely, the source seemed hard to locate. "Confirmed. Stab Resistance acquisition successful,"

"H-huh? The voice again..."

The feminine voice continued. "Continuing...Physical Attack Resistance acquisition successful,"

"What is she talking about?" I wondered as my head became clouded.

"Confirmed. Pain Nullification acquired. Creating a body that does not require blood. Failed,"

"Huh? How is it possible? My body doesn't hurt anymore...but I do feel cold,"

"Cold Resistance acquisition...failed,"

"This voice... is so confusing yet strangely comforting? Now that I think about it, I haven't even lived up to being considered 'a sage' in my video games yet... Looking back, my only social interactions were with people in a fantasy world yet I was just a sage apprentice. So I wasn't even able to be considered a 'Sage'; at least my friend said I was a great sage. Snap out of it! My last thoughts can not be me regretting never levelling up in a video game!"

The feminine voice started speaking, drawing my attention. "Extra skill: Sage acquisition successful. Continuing. Sage will transform into the unique skill Great Sage. Successful,"

"I just sighed on my deathbed, deciding to ignore the voice and started to focus on my own thoughts. "I wasn't even able to bring justice to the baka who stabbed me... I hope someone will get my revenge,"

Once again, the feminine voice interrupted my thoughts. "Unique skill: Predator acquisition successful,"

"That voice again... It's comforting knowing I'm not dying without being noticed, but, it might just be my own imagination..." I was slowly about to close my eyes, but my gaze fell on the window. Outside, there was drizzling yet joyful scenery. I sighed. "I wish I could change the weather, to lift the mood, but the rain is beautiful..." I mumbled before my eyes finally closed. As my consciousness slowly slipped away, I faintly heard the feminine voice once again before my consciousness slipped.

"Extra skill: Weather Manipulation acquisition successful. Continuing. Extra skill: Water Manipulation acquisition successful,"
