CHAPTER 9.

My grip on the pen tightened when I bit my lip and toughly contemplated on what to do. If I didn't sign the stupid agreement then it would mean I would spend another day in that cell, or worse the case against me might become too serious. The man infront of me wasn't playing any games, he was deadly serious because he was impatiently waiting for me to get my signature on that paper. An icy cloud suddenly hung over us as we stared at each other.

After thinking for a while. unconsciously, I withdrew slightly loosening my fingers around the pen while my signature stained the little dotted lines where I was supposed to sign.

It was done!.
I didn't know what I had just done, my conscience was eating me loudly deep in my soul.

"Do you often blackmail every woman you meet over a little misunderstanding?" I blurted out after closing the file. I needed to know how many women he had done something like this to.

"Depends!" God knows how much I wished to get up that chair, walk around and slap the look of smug superiority off his face.

"On what?" I sneered.

"What kind of a misunderstanding it was" apparently came his answer. And there went that smirk again. It was pretty much making me feel hot but more annoyed because I felt like he was enjoying what he was doing. It was probably one of his hobbies to want to see people on the urge and frightened for their lives.

"Well now that we've finally reached an agreement. You are free to go. I'll have officer Jonas hand you a copy of the contract. In two weeks I'll send someone to fetch you. Make sure you'll be prepared, I have your contact details so I'll stay in touch...have a blessed evening" with that being said he stood up, collected his file and gloriously exited the room like he had just won an oscar.

I exhaled heavily with his departure resting my head over my binded hands. My head suddenly spinning with the days event.
What madness had I gotten myself into?!.
The unanswered question lingered in my mind while I was still trying to process everything that had happened. I lost my job, Liam left me and now my life was turned upside down.

A moment after Mr Santana left, Jonas came back and informed me that I had been cleared from all the charges and that I was free to go back home. He told me that Maddy was already waiting for me at the reception area.

When I was released I was given all my belongings except my purse because apparently they had lost it. My purse had my wallet, my keys, and other small items in it. I got so furious thinking of how clumsy and unorganized they were. How could they lose something like that? Now I had a job of replacing all that had been lost. I was lucky I had left my phone back at the apartment or else I would have had to replace it too if it was in my purse. Luckily Maddy had a spare key as well, it would be convenient to get inside the apartment.

I complained and grumbled about my things being lost at the expense of causing a scene infront of all the officers. I was frustrated by the mad man who forced me to sign something against my will and the whole police station had in on that. They tried to reason with me and told me to email the value of the contents of what I lost to the police and i would be reimbursed for it. Their offer wasn't enough to calm my puddled up mind and uneasy heart. But I had to choice but to agree, I told them that the total value of my stuff was $426.00. Although seriously speaking it would have all resulted in a $245.00 but I had to make it extra. They told me they would contact me as soon as I emailed them.

A moment of reconsideration.
"And you seriously signed those papers?" Maddy asked in awe as we entered my apartment.

Along the way in the car I had told her everything that had happened. she was shocked, she told me how she went out to look for me but couldn't find me. She couldn't try to call me cause we both left our phones. She was also utterly drunk and woken up at the bartender's house.
