CHAPTER 11.

Soft, golden light spilled from the elegant chandelier, casting a warm glow on the plush carpet. The room's pallet, was a soothing blend of creams, beiges, and whites, it created such a serene ambience.

What caught my attention was the view beyond the tall glass wall. My attention had drifted to the breathtaking focal point, a towering glass wall that seemed to dissapear into the horizon. And a panoramic view unfolded like a canvas, showcasing Barcelona's glittering landscape. The glass wall was framing the far city like a masterpiece.

The room's opulent faded into the background as my footsteps drew me closer to the glass, my reflection merging with the stunning vista. I felt as though I was floating above the city, the world stretching out before me. For a moment I felt calm, the view looked so beautiful and so relaxing to watch. I ended up hugging myself, comforting myself from the ordeal that I was going through while I continued to take in the far view of the city.

The Mediterranean sea glimmered in the distance, it's gentle waves caressing the shoreline. The Sagrada familiar's iconic spires rose majestically, while the city's bustling streets pulsed with life. My fingers grazed the cool glass, my breath fogging the surface. I felt the cool breeze carried on the glass, the sound of the sea waves a gentle hum in the distance.

"Unbelievable!" I whispered, my voice barely audible over the sound of my own heartbeat. It was unbelievable that some people were heavily blessed to wake up to such a delightful view every single day. I became so lost in the beauty of the view.

Visiting spain was on my bucket list but not under such circumstances. And I never thought that I would visit Barcelona first instead of Madrid. Even from NY, I knew that Barcelona was second only to Madrid's high end homes. But I loved Madrid more because it was filled with so many iconic sites, from the famed palaces and museums to architectural feats to historic markets and public spaces. It was absolutely beautiful and worth visiting. But here I was, in Barcelona outside Marbella.

But back to my shocking reality, I spent a few more minutes in a daze, not knowing what to do except sit idly by and wait to be told what to do.
As much as I still wanted to ask Domenico why he was forcing me do this?, and why he chose me?. The only answer I could come up with was that, since it had came to this, the only explanation was that all of this was just a coincidence.

I had had enough time keeping myself company. With how much I was overthinking, I could swear I almost went crazy.
I went back to the luxurious living room, the polished floor even made me scared to walk on it, i was walking as though I was walking on egg shells.

My exhausted eyes kept scanning the opulent surroundings, my mind seemed a bit foggy from the long journey. Nine hours of flying and driving was taking its toll on me, my body ached for a rest, I even felt my eyelids dropping. However, I needed to know how this whole thing was going to work before I can relax.

The warm glow of table lamps and the  soft crackle of the fireplace enveloped me in comfort. Plush cushions and rich textures seemed to beckon me to relax, except it wasn't working.

I was sitting there at the edge of the couch, still uneasy. I kept tapping my foot on the white fluffy carpet that was placed underneath my feet. Although, I had my sleepers on, Mama Agnes had said that the floor was cold, I might as well put my feet on the warm carpet. How nice of her to think of me.

However, every nerve in my body was questioning me of my decision, it was such a shame that even Mama Agnes's kindness could not settle my heart at ease.
I was definitely not ready for this but at the moment, it seemed like the most easiest way out of my misery. I really had to do this for myself and my future. Even though it felt like I was sacrificing my dignity and betraying my conscience.
