It was cold. It's not so cold as to be freezing, but it was definitely chilly enough to elicit a small shiver from Unicorn as she walked down the halls of the dorms of Scapa Flow, plushie cradled in her arms. She couldn't sleep and had resorted to taking a small walk through the dorms to get her mind off things.
Admittedly, she was a bit worried, specifically for Hood. Looking out the large window, she could see Hood's ship amongst the many others docked currently. There were rumors running amok that claimed that the Iron Blood's newest battleship, Bismarck, was out there terrorizing convoys and lesser ships. As a result, Hood, along with Prince of Wales, were tasked with intercepting Bismarck and hopefully dealing with the problem. Even she herself knew that Hood and Wales were among the best the Royal Navy had, but she couldn't help but feel that something was going to go horribly wrong.
It could be just her being concerned for Hood's safety, but she couldn't shake the feeling from the back of her mind. Maybe a breath of fresh air was all she needed. Then she felt it. A jolt going through her mind. She suddenly became aware of another presence in the garden, and she had the compulsion to go towards the source. She opened the glass doors leading towards the royal gardens, a beautiful place used for hosting tea parties hosted by Her Majesty herself. Though at the moment, the beauty of the gardens was the farthest thing from her mind. She reached the small gazebo located at the center of the gardens, and she laid eyes on the supposed source of the jolt.
There was a woman in a loose yellow dress sitting on one of the seats in the gazebo. Describing her as simply beautiful wouldn't do her justice as she had an almost ethereal glow around her. She had dark skin and dark hair tied in two round buns, the tone reminding Unicorn of her tour of India. Her eyes, on the other hand, contrasted this greatly with them being a bright emerald. Those same emerald gems locked onto her, making her jump slightly at bring caught. She was instead given a warm smile, the type of smile one would give an old friend that they hadn't seen in a long time.
She gestured to an empty seat next to her, smiling warmly all the while. Unicorn hesitated. Questions were running through her mind, leaving her frozen in place as her mind processed the overload of information. It all came to a halt when she heard the woman giggle.
"No need to be afraid," She said. "I don't bite."
Despite her earlier hesitation, Unicorn found herself believing the woman as her body moved for her. Slowly but surely, she approached the gazebo before sitting down in the empty seat. In front of her were two cups of tea judging by the smell of the drink. The woman took her cup before taking a sip of it with Unicorn following suit. They bathed in the peaceful silence of the early morning hours, the sun yet to emerge from the horizon before the woman spoke.
"I have called you here to talk," She said. "I hope you don't mind?"
Her eyes widened slightly before she shook her head, "No! No, I don't mind!" She said hastily.
The woman giggled at that, "I'm glad." Her express turned serious, "The reason I have come to speak to you is to warn you of a great threat." She said.
"L-like the Sirens?" Asked Unicorn.
The woman shook her head, "Even greater than the Sirens. They threaten the very Earth itself. Fortunately, there is a way to beat them, but as it stands, the world is not ready. The Earth is too divided, and it is in that division that humanity will fall."
Unicorn was terrified by that prospect. A threat even greater than the Sirens and the fact that the world is too divided in this war to counteract it. But before she could grow even more upset, the woman smiled.
