THE RUNAWAY

CHAPTER 3

It's the morning after Kiara came over. She and Chloe slept in her bed and Kaylee slept on the couch in her room. She didn't want Kiara to feel lonely.

Chloe was the first one up so she went downstairs and made something to eat. She ate and brought the rest of the food to her room for Kaylee and Kiara.

When she walked into the room Kiara wasn't in bed. Chloe knocked on the bathroom door and heard Kiara's soft morning voice say "who is it?"

"It's me, Chloe. I brought breakfast." She said, walking back to the bed. Kiara walked out of the bathroom and sat on the bed next to Chloe. She grabbed some of the food and started eating. Chloe got up and walked over to Kaylee, who was still sleeping, pulled her blanket off of her and screamed, "wake the fuck up!" Kiara laugh as she was eating. "What the hell chloe?" Kaylee asked annoyed.

"Get up! It's 10:00am." Chloe said throwing her blanket at her. "Okay? And? I don't have anywhere to be!" She rolled over and went back to sleep. "Don't forget we have a game today!" Chloe walked back over to the bed and sat next to Kiara. There wasn't much breakfast so she was done.

Chloe took kaylees breakfast and the dirty dishes to the kitchen and Kiara followed behind her "I could have gotten it myself. You don't have to do everything."

"You're my guest. You shouldn't have to." Chloe replied, walking over to Kiara. "Whatever."

"What do you wanna do today?" Chloe asked as she jumped up onto the countertop. "I don't know. I'm fine with anything." Kiara said. "Omg let's go to the library!" Chloe said smiling.

"No offense but not everyone is a book nerd Chloe." Kaylee says, walked downstairs. "I see you didn't sleep long." Chloe said as Kaylee got her food.

"Well thanks to you I couldn't go back to sleep and I have to go home and get some stuff for the game today." She gave Chloe the finger and walked away.

"I'm down to go to the library by the way." Kiara said circling back to the previous conversation. "Yay!" Chloe got off the counter and ran to her room. Chloe got ready and they went to the library.

"So what kind of books are you into?" Kiara asked from behind Chloe. "Mostly romance and horror." She replied turning around. They were face to face, the aisle was kind small so they were close. Chloe could feel Kiara's breath on her skin.

Kiara backed away as much as she could "umm.. t-thats cool." Neither on of the girls said anything else the whole time they just turned around and continued to look for a book.

After they left the library they went to kaylees house and she wanted to get ice cream so they went to the ice cream shop down the street.

"Kaylee, you know Brady?" Kiara asked. "Yeah, we were partners for an English assignment. Why?"

"He likes you. He wanted me to ask you for your number one day at lunch but I never got around to it." She said and Kaylee put her hand over her mouth. "Omg for real?"

"Yea." Kaylee put her number in Kiara's phone and Kiara sent it to Brady.

Kaylee went home so it was just Chloe and Kiara at the house. They were sitting in bed when Chloe's sister walked in, She was crying. "What happened?" Chloe asked as she hugged her.

"Dad." She said, and that's all she had to say. Dad always yells at Wheezie, she doesn't do anything but he doesn't care. He even grabs her sometimes (not in a sexual way) he gets so angry and takes it out on them.

"Can I sleep with you tonight?" She asks, I looked over at Kiara. "Kiara is sleeping in my bed to-"

"No, let her I'll sleep on the couch." Kiara said cutting Chloe off. "Okay."

Chloe and Kaylee were in the locker room with the rest of the team and Kaylee was doing Chloe's hair. "Girls! This is an important game. If we lose we will lose our streak." They've won all of their games this year and this is their last one.

After a few minutes they were all on the field. The game was going great until someone shoved Chloe, she fell down and they stepped on her leg. She yelled in pain and coach brought her to the bench. "Are you okay?" Chloe heard a soft voice from behind her. She looked back and it was Kiara. "No I think it's broken." She had tears coming down her cheeks.

"I'll take her home." Kiara said and they left the game. Chloe didn't get to talk to anyone. What if we lose? Kiara and Chloe were in Kiara's car, "hey what's on your mind?" She asked Chloe.

"What if it's broken?" Chloe started crying again. "Let's hope it's not." She had one hand on the wheel and used her other hand to cross her fingers.

They went to the hospital and they said that it wasn't broken but Chloe probably won't be able to play soccer for a while. They gave her crutches and pain medication and then Kiara drove her home.

That night Wheezie slept in Chloe's bed. She was asleep before Chloe and Kiara so they sat up and watched a movie. They were on the couch watching it on Chloe's laptop so they didn't wake up Wheezie but Chloe kept falling asleep.

The next morning Chloe woke up. She was facing Kiara with her arm wrapped around Kiara's waist and Kiara's arm wrapped around her neck. Chloe was laying on Kiara's chest. she smells so good.

Chloe tried to get up without waking Kiara up but she failed. "Where you going?" She heard Kiara ask. "Oh.. uh sorry for falling asleep on you. I Didn't mean to make it weird."

"I asked where you were going not why." Kiara said chuckling. "You didn't make it weird, I slept great." She laughed.

"Now lay back down and go back to sleep it's only 5:00am." She said holding her arms back out for Chloe to lay down.

She lied down and Kiara played in her hair. She could hear Kiara's heart beat as it slowed down. They both went back to sleep.
