"So, how'd it go?" Raph heard from April as he shut the door on the way out. In front of him were his brothers, Donnie and Mikey. Along with an even more disheartened April.
"Let's face it y'all, I tried my best." He shook his head, his eyes gazing upon the floor. His troubled look alarmed the three, them then exchanging looks with one another.
"Well, did it work?" Mikey asked Donnie, clearly seeing the indifference on his facial expression. "From the looks of it," he replied, crossing his arms. "—it surely did not."
Mikey looks to the side, trying to figure out what to say. He swam towards his big brother, a comforting smile playing on his face. "Hey, at least you tried, okay? Leo's kind of a hard guy to convince at times!" Mikey chuckles, making Raph grimace at the failed attempts he made. "Yeah, yeah, thanks lil' bro." He then pulled him into a huge hug, making Donnie back away and turn to April.
He notices April's focused expression, raising an eyebrow. "So, what are you planning?"
"Dunno," she whispered.
"I mean come on, if Nardo were to be that stubborn regarding these sorts of things," Donnie responded, "At this point, might as well let him go."
April pauses for a moment, her eyes widening.
"Excuse me?! Donnie, do you know how important this is to us?!" Her words began to spew rapidly.
"Do you really want your brother to get executed?! Hu-""Okay, okay. That's enough." Donnie concluded as he undoubtedly felt the frustration rush through her. He could even say the same level that his Raph's feeling currently. It's hard to deny it, they really can't lose him, can't they? Donnie then sighed as he took a glance at him, seeing Mikey patting his shell.
"Sorry, I went a little overboard. Just don't want to risk losing my job.." April said while Donnie noticed her face shift a little. His gaze softened, crossing his arms."Look, if you need some help you could've brought me along, just saying." He scoffed. April's eyebrows tensed, noticing the clear determination Donnie had in his comment.
"I think I can handle things myself, Donnie. Don't want you getting hurt either."
"So, then answer the question. What exactly are you planning?"The air between them went silent, pressuring the two. April only had a matter of time to think, knowing that she couldn't keep him waiting. She twiddled her thumbs, trying to pick at an answer. An answer that was out of reach for the moment. Her mind was full, struggling to contain her overwhelmed self.
"Well, if talking won't get him out of it, I'll find out eventually." April faltered, actually unsure of what to do. "How are you going to do that?" Donnie asks again.
"Uhh..."
The confusion broke as April could feel a moving current behind her. One quite familiar in this case.Mayhem finally comes out from hiding, rushing its way towards April. "Hey, Mayhem! What's up?"
Its eyes were frightened, and it trembled in place. It yipped, providing details April can understand.
"Leo...what?" It began to tell more, reenacting what just happened. But with every action Mayhem did, April's fear only heightened. "Shoot..to where?!"
It stopped talking. "You don't know...? I-"
"What did it say?" Donnie asked."Bad news..." Everyone began to turn heads, curious about what happened. "About what?" Raph added. April gulped, hesitating to provide an answer. With the amount of stares she's getting from the worried brothers, she knew she couldn't hold her peace for any longer. "Leo, he uh..."
"He swam away."
Raph's jaw dropped, just as things couldn't get any worse. Donnie got even more confused and it left Mikey in a cold sweat.
"He swam away?!" Raph lets out.
"Wait, really?!" Donnie exclaimed while Mikey began to swim around in panic. "I mean, if you want to show commitment, I guess that's one way to do it." Donnie rolled his eyes.
