ACT 1: The Love Story

We open in complete darkness, then a cluster of twinkling stars begin appearing, forming the title Barbie AND Ken. (AND is in caps to emphasize the importance of the other)

Then an extreme close-up of an eyelid opening to reveal sparkling blue eyes. It's Barbie waking up in her sumptuous boudoir in hues of pink (cue music), sliding her pedicured feet into pink Versace slippers. Then we transition to Ken waking up in his tiny bedroom, almost like a dorm room, barefoot. We are then shown a split screen of the two, displaying how very different their lives are. Barbie lives in the lap of luxury and Ken's is as simple as they get. (NOTE: Barbie always looks immaculate even when waking up, but Ken is a bit disheveled) Their morning routine is shown, Barbie winks at the mirror, then the mirror rotates to reveal Ken on the other side. Almost like a two-way mirror, but Barbie's mirror is a huge light pink heart shape and Ken's is just a generic mirror with a broken piece missing on the edge.

Barbie opens her closet doors to reveal her ginormous walk-in closet (Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse closet), Ken's is an ordinary closet with ordinary work clothes. Barbie magically changes clothes, but Ken puts on his like a regular person. They are not shown eating, but they do eat and drink.

Barbie selects her car of choice from her enormous garage, Ken drives a pickup truck. Before getting in his truck, Ken always makes sure to leave some food and beverage to this homeless guy who sleeps nearby. Barbie is involved in various charitable foundations. (importance is shown in the dichotomy between the two, different but very much the same)

As the gates to Barbie's oceanfront mega mansion open, her Ferrari exits the paved driveway and affluent streets. A ritzy neighbor waves at Barbie. Ken's meager property overlooks the beach, with it's gorgeous lifeguards, surfers and skateboarders.

Barbara Millicent "Barbie" Roberts is Chairwoman and CEO of her own company BARBIE (think Mattel), celebrity extraordinaire, model, actress, and Popstar (how does she do it?), Kenneth Sean "Ken" Carson owns his own construction company. (NOTE: Barbie & Ken were both named after an actual sister and brother, Barbara and Kenneth Handler)

As soon as Barbie steps out from her vehicle, her outfit is completely different. This happens very often (think Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada, the fashion montage), but only to Barbie. As she enters the pink monolithic building, her distinctive emblem logo can be viewed, featuring a silhouette of Barbie's profile adorned with her signature ponytail. The ponytail is deliberately made to look like a high-heeled shoe. It not only reinforces her brand's identity but also encapsulates Barbie's status as a cultural icon. Barbie's company is comprised of a diverse group of people, both male AND female.

Someone is blabbering on about business, their marketing, etc. Barbie (in another costume change) is listening solemnly. Barbie is shown a commercial and billboard, but Barbie has had enough.

Barbie: No, I think the world has had too much of me. It's time we saved some money on the ads, nobody pays attention to them anyway. People just walk past my billboards in Times Square.

Person: But we have to sell your brand! That means you!

B: I can always do a meet and greet, and sell my products in person.

P: With all due respect, you can't possibly do this all over the world! That's what the marketing department is for.

But Barbie had already made her decision, as she stands and excuses herself from the meeting. Several heads are shaking and murmuring.

Cut to -- Ken, looking ruggedly handsome, eating a sandwich at the top of a construction site with his pal Alan Sherwood. The Barbie building can be seen from a distance, a white dove flies by.
