The next morning, I woke up at 10:00. Well my dad woke me up which was surprising. He would of already been at work.

But he was not and it was weird. "Why are you still home?" I questioned him. "You said we were invited to the neighbors house down the street." He stated. I looked at him and furrowed my eyebrows.

"That's not until later. Like one or two." I told him. Don't get me wrong, I did ask if he was going to be there, but being alone all the time, you kind of get used to your schedule and yourself.

"Then, you'll be stuck with me for the day. I took the day off." Dad said. I stared at him. "Really?" I asked surprised. He nodded and I smiled a small smile.

I'd actually get to have at least some form or family time today then.

Dad went downstairs and I got out of bed and got ready for the day.

When I entered the kitchen I was surprised to see breakfast. "What's this?" I questioned dad as I sat down at the kitchen table. Last time I checked, we didn't have any food whatsoever.

"I went grocery shopping this morning." He stated. "...Where?" I questioned, hoping to god he didn't go to Frugal Hoosier. "A nice little market on the base." He said.

A silent sigh of relief escaped my mouth.

We sat there eating like a somewhat normal family when there was a knock at the door. "I'll get it." Dad said. I shook my head and stood up.

I walked to the door and opened it. It was Sue. "Abby, I'm freaking out. I don't know what to wear because I really want to impress Brad!" She said with fear on her face.

I sighed. "C'mon." I told her as I held the door open for her to enter.  She followed me and I stopped in the kitchen. My dad looked at me confused. "Dad this is my friend Sue." I told him.

He nodded. Probably glad I made a friend. I started walking away. "Nice meeting you Mr. Greensmith!" Sue said as we walked to my room.

I turned on the light and went to my closet. "So what does Brad like?" I questioned her. She sat on my bed and looked at me. "He likes colors." She said.

"Well, my closest isn't exactly that colorful, but I think I might be able to find something." I told her. She nodded and I started going through my closest to find something.

"What about this?" I questioned her as I showed her a shirt that was a purple and pink ombré. I don't know where I got it from, but I know I'd never where it and if I ever did.

"Ohhh my gosh that's literally perfect!" Sue exclaimed as I held it out for her to take. She took it and thanked me. As she sat on my bed, she then got serious.

"Are you friends with Axl?" She questioned me. I shrugged, I honestly didn't know. "I have no idea. I'm pretty sure that he just hung out with me yesterday because your mom made him." I told her honestly.

She shrugged, also having no idea.

She eventually left after we hung out for a little bit and I went back to my dad who was now in the living room.

"I'm glad you've got a friend." He said. I nodded. "The get together is at her house later. That was Sue Heck." I explained to my dad.

He looked at me and laughed a bit. "For someone who doesn't like talking to people, it seems to me that you've been particularly neighborly since we've moved here." He said.

I rolled my eyes. How would he know if I was or not? He's never around. The only reason I had to be neighborly was because no one in this neighborhood has met him. So they met me instead.
