Nerves shook Louis as he took a sip of his iced coffee waiting for the caffeine to kick in. They'd all gotten back from camping late the night before having woken up in their respective tents of what had happened. It was like the worst hangover ever. All of it was a blur they'd run out in the early morning to look for the crater to were that thing had landed but it was gone. It was like some sort of collective elusion.
Reaching up he touched the aqua colored pendant around his neck. His fingers touching the cold surface reassured him that he hadn't gone suddenly insane. Pushing the mater out of his mind he weaved and swerved his way through the hoards of people blocking the hallway. His blue eyes twinkled with a sense of urgency and his heart beat a little harder with every second that passed by.
He didn't know why he was so nervous he was just gonna talk to Harry. So why was his stomach twisted in knots. Louis had hardly talked to him during the camping trip. He'd been too nervous scared one look into Harry's bright green eyes would break the damn and all of Louis feelings would come spilling out.
The truth being Louis was in love with Harry since the day they'd first met. During a hot summer day they ran around unstoppable as their respective nannies watched them from afar too busy gossiping. Back when had two missing teeth and Louis broke his arm falling off the slide after some rude boy pushed him off. Harry was so mad he'd punched the other boy in the face.
They'd been best friends ever since. Even kissing once their freshmen year of high school on a countdown to New Years. Both of them had shown up dateless for Gigi's New Years party and had spent most of the night taking shots and laughing at their own private jokes. Then the countdown started.
"5,4,3,2,1, Happy New Years" turning to stare at each other it was like there was nobody else in the room even if they were surrounded by hordes of drunken people. "Come on" said Harry taking hold of Louis wrist pulling him through the house.
"What's up" asked Louis confused.
"Well it's New Years so ..." Out of nowhere he felt Harry's lips press against his own. It wasn't a peck but it was a full on make out either. Just as the shock was beginning to fade the kiss ended.
"What was that for" asked Louis stupidly.
"Duh, for New Years hello I had to kiss someone at midnight" said Harry with a cheeky grin on his face. It was Louis first kiss.
Later that night harry ended up puking all over Gigi's mothers rose bushes and louis practically had to drag him into the cab and take him home.
The next morning Harry spent lying next to the toilet dry heaving and nursing the worst hangover.
"Oh my god I can't believe I got so filing drunk. Gigi is pissed she still won't return my calls." Harry's voice sounded tired and cracked as he spoke through the phone the next morning.
"Well you did end up spilling tequila all over her dress."
"Louis it's literally the worst night of my life. Let's never talk about it again."
"Okay but I just wondering what you remember?"
"Uh I don't know drinking smoking definitely some puking I think I made out with someone but I forgot. Oh shit you don't think I might have put the moves on Gigi. It would totally make sense why she's so pissed."
"No, I don't think..."
Suddenly all Louis heard was the dial tone. Had Harry just hung up on him? Confused he called him waiting until an irritable voice on the other line finale picked up the phone.
"Sorry but Harry won't be able to pick up. He's grounded and he's not gonna be leaving the house ever again. Goodbye."
Ever since then Louis hadn't bothered to bring the party up. Too scared Harry would flip out if he ever remembered what happened. But as harry forget all about that night blissfully unaware it was all Louis had been able to think about.
In his most private moments his mind still went back to that night and he wondered. What the hell did it mean? Was Harry just teasing him or did it mean more.
Louis had even written Harry a letter. All his feeling and questions down on paper. He must have gone through a whole journals worth of paper. Holding it in hand he made his was towards Harry's locker. He was just gonna hand to him and leave.
"If you don't return my feelings please just ignore the letter and let's pretend it never happened. You're always in my heart. Sincerely Louis."
That's how he'd chosen to end the letter. Maybe if Harry didn't feel the same way after the awkwardness eventually faded they could still remain friends?
Turning a corner towards Harry's locker he stopped in his tracks when he saw Kylie and Harry. He had his arm around the small of her back and they were kissing lips locked for everyone in the hall to see. Turning around he felt his cheeks turned red with embarrassment. It was like the time his brother had accidentally kicked him in the gut he was breathless and angry.
Balling his hands into first he felt his blood boil with rage how could he be so stupid. Stupid fool, it served him right.
"Snap" he turned to find the glass on the door next to him explode shattering into a million pieces scattering glass all over the floor and drawing all attention on him. Embarrassed he ran into the nearest class room shutting the the door behind him.
"Hi, oh my Louis are you okay?" Looking up he spotted Liam sitting at a desk. The class room was empty except for the two of them. Class hadn't started yet so what was he doing here?
"Uh yeah I'm fine. So what are you doing here so early" he asked quickly desperate to change the topic.
"I'm new remember I just wanted to ask the teacher some questions before class started."
"Oh yeah that makes sense." Turning to leave he made his way towards the waste basket next to the door. Angrily crumpling up the letter in his pocket it tossed it in. Sorry that he'd ever written it in the first place.
"Okay Liam I'll see ya later."
