Hey everyone, underbound here
I'll just cut to the chase, the odds of me doing any other books that are fallout related is quite low.
As far as a fallout new Vegas style or another one from fallout 3, of even the first 2 with the birds eye view where it's more like a top down rts style.
I know a lot of people love new Vegas and hold it up as the gold standard for what is a truly great fallout game.
Personally...I like it but I don't think it's as good as fallout 4

Yes I know, get your electric lancers and your big irons...wow that sounds worse then I intended. Anyway, fallout new Vegas has a great story that has many branching paths and different endings. And a lot of neat factions but face it, it all comes down to
Do I kill these guys or do I kill these guys? Who takes control and who doesn't, do I take control.
It does have some good dlc, that honestly have way better stories individually then any of the new Vegas endings.
The story is the same
"X happens so obtain Y to solve for X while in the wasteland, discover Z and stop it" template that is present in all fallout games

Spoilers if anyone cares

Fallout 1: X = broken water chip
Y = working water chip
Z = mutant leader wanting to turn everyone into super mutants

Fallout 2: X = enclave killing spree Y = device that can Jumpstart life across an entire dead country
Z = enclave want to enslave humanity under iron rule

Fallout new vegas: X = you get shot and left for dead
Y = revived and seek revenge
Z = stop whoever you don't want to control new Vegas

Fallout 4: X = wife dies and baby kidnapped
Y = wake up, get revenge, save your boi
Z = your boi is now in his 60s (best plot twist in all the games btw, I did not see that coming and it actually sense) and wants to "redefine" humanity
Stop him, or help him

Yes there are no real lasting consequences no matter what ending you choose. But fallout 4 has one advantage...one HUGE advantage over new Vegas. The gunplay and combat are 10 times better then new Vegas, if you try to play vanilla Vegas today, it will be so awkward and stiff that playing with controller is next to impossible, and playing with a mouse isn't much better.
And if you do think it is better then I can assure you, it's because you are adding chocolate with your vanilla. Yeah the gun designs and variety are better but what's the point if you aim like a scarecrow with arthritis on controller, and a blind monkey greased in oil on mouse and keyboard
Yes, you can fix the flawed combat with mods, but guess what else you can fix with mods? Fallout 4's guns and variety
No matter what, mods will fix any problems with any game. So we have to judge them based on their vanilla forms with no modding.
And if you want to play new Vegas vanilla, it may have a slightly better story, but it's gunplay and it's glitches are way worse. And that's if you even can play the game, since you need 10 stability mods so it doesn't crash 20 times I'm a single day.
Fallout 4 crashes too but not near as much.

Sorry for the long winded rant, but I say all this to say that because of how I feel about fallout new vegas, the odds of me making a story based on fallout new Vegas or the first 2 games is quite low.

I don't hate the game, but I made the book based on fallout 4 because I genuinely enjoy the game. I've beaten it so many times and joined up with the different factions, and I keep going back to it because the gunplay and even the melee build is fun, you need to min-max for the blitz perk but still. It is genuinely a fun time.

Anyway if any of you have actually read this far I genuinely appreciate it and if you didn't I don't blame you it was just a long ass rant. But I will see if I can maybe get some interesting one shots from the fallout series. Maybe even the new series that's out.
Anyway, until then, I appreciate you all
