-·•••·-After practice, Isabella's hopes to go home and sleep the day off were quickly diminished when Stiles pulled up into her driveway and practically threw her into the backseat of his Jeep.
Isabella groaned, turning on her side and staring at the back of the driver's seat. "Okay not to be a buzz kill or anything, but couldn't we have come on Saturday to look for your inhaler? You know, a day where I'm not physically or mentally exhausted by school?"
"You're physically and mentally exhausted any day of the week," Scott admitted, glancing back at her, to which she answered with a 'touche'. "Besides we have to have to get it back because in case you forgot - I need my inhaler to breathe and we need to find it in case some animal kicks it someplace else."
"Oh wow, now asthmatic Bambi's chance of survival is dwindling the closer we get to the Preserve, shame," she quipped, making Stiles smile and Scott roll his eyes at her deadpanned tone.
"What's with you today," fully turning in his seat to properly face her. "You're more moody than usual."
"You make me feel so loved Scott," she sighed. "I'm laying in the back of Stiles's jeep instead of my bed, if that doesn't answer your question I don't know what else will," she retorted, shutting her eyes.
"You feeling okay," her eyes opened at his concerned tone.
She nodded. "Yeah just tired."
Their eyes held together for a few seconds, Isabella felt a shift in the air that made her pounding headache subside and the heat around her cool. Then he nodded accepting her answer and turned back around, and her headache and the heat returned.
A few minutes and complaints later the trio had finally made it to the Preserve. They exited the car and entered the forest to begin their journey for Scott's inhaler. Isabella stood frozen for a second, tugging at her sweater sleeves nervously before she finally gave in and made her way into the woods.
As they walked deeper into the forest Scott reminisced about his amazing performance at practice. "I-I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball," he said.
Isabella paused when they came to a creek, her mind deciding how she could get over it without getting her feet wet. Finally, she concluded that there was no way and started making her way over it.
"Need some help?" Isabella looked up to see Stiles standing on the other side of the creek.
"Um — yeah. Here give me your hand," her arm reached over wiggling her fingers for him to grab her hand.
Isabella gripped his hand and jumped as far as she could, Stiles pulled her towards him to help her get over, the momentum caused them to stumble back a bit, but Stiles wrapped his other hand around her waist catching her and her arm wrapped around him.
She looked up at him and started laughing. "Well that was fun," she said breathlessly. Thanks for catching me."
"Always," he said impulsively.
Clearing her throat she slid out of his grip, patting his arm in thanks, and walked towards Scott who turned around pretending to look for his inhaler.
"And that's not the only weird thing. I-I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things," Scott continued talking about practice, sending a knowing look over to Stiles.
Isabella tuned them out, walking a bit ahead of them looking around to see if she could spot the inhaler. She didn't know why she suddenly got so awkward around Stiles, all she knew was that she liked the feeling of his hand wrapped around her waist, and the color of his eyes. God his eyes, she could stare at them all day if she had the chance.
