I politely turned Changbin down on his offer for me to talk to him about how I was feeling. But, I just wasn't feeling it, everything had simply been a blur ever since my father died. My life was just going through the motions for now. Everything had been so sudden after all, his absence hadn't even really occurred to me yet. He was always gone, anyway.
I returned to my room, crashing down on the couch after throwing my keys on the table. Exhaustion was my biggest weakness, especially when I hadn't slept in days. It was unhealthy, mentally and physically, but I had learned to live with it.
As I laid motionless on my couch, my head flew up when a sudden ding from my phone startled me.
"Huh?" I groaned with a tired throat and voice.
I sat myself up on my couch, grabbing my phone with a shaky hand. To my surprise, it was my mother. I had forgotten all about how I told her to text me.
Mother
M: Are you okay? Did you get home safe?
Me: Yes, mom. I'm fine.
M: Alright, get to bed then.

I hadn't meant to sound cold, but I was tired and just wanted to go to bed. So, I took her advice, which I very much needed, and got into bed after doing my nighttime routine. Sleep was the one thing I needed at that very moment, after all, I dozed off in less than five minutes. The one thought that woke me up in the middle of the night was Changbin. He said I had changed and I believed it. I wasn't spending as much time with him anymore because of my job and my father's death. Changbin wasn't being possessive or selfish, he just wanted me to be able to grieve and not keep everything inside like I usually did. I knew that I was being stubborn, but I also knew that I would get around to grieving once I got the time. After all, work was helping me take my mind off of everything which was how I wanted things to be. I didn't want to think about my father's death, so I had refused to take time off of work.
Grieving would have to wait...

Bang Chan Friday Morning
I woke up in the morning at about 9:00 a.m. to a notification on my phone, Lee Know I suspected. The notification was from three hours before, which was usual. Lee Know was usually up late into the night like me, then up super early in the morning, which wasn't like me. I was not a morning person. Sometimes I questioned if Lee Know was even human. (I think we all do, lol 😂)
Picking up my phone from my bedside table, I realized that it really was Lee Know. It was just the usual: Get up, idiots! Here are your missions. Which was expected from Lee Know more than anyone I knew.
Lee Know
L: Chan, you get your prisoner today. Here's your mission: File: WBMD-Y
-Read
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tapped on the file to see that my mission was one of the usual: Someone didn't pay Boss Lee Know back, and now I have to go kill the victim's whole family and capture one of the family members to interrogate them. Great. I tapped on the pictures and I looked with confusion at the family. It was the family from the story on the news last night! What? I was very confused... until I read the rest of the file...
Reading the file, I discovered that the "wealthy business man" actually wasn't what everyone thought he was! Apparently, he had taken out a loan from Lee Know for his company project, but killed himself so he didn't have to pay Lee Know back! (Plot twist: He still does, well, not him) Now, he was leaving his wife and daughter to suffer the consequences!!! How shallow...
For a moment, I didn't feel bad for that "business man," I felt bad for his family. How could he do this to them?! The rest of the public didn't even know the real truth! Everyone thought he had just died from a heart attack. But they were going to know soon, once the family was dead... Oh no, I had to destroy the family... Right after the father had died? Sheesh, even I thought that was harsh. The whole city would go into a panic knowing that the Mafia was on the loose, killing families one by one.
I sighed.
I didn't really have a choice, though. It had to be done, just as long as Lee Know had a plan for when the whole city found out about us. Which he most likely did, he was always overpreparing. It didn't matter to me though, just as long as I got the job done I would be fine. Hopefully...
As I got out of bed, I worried for the family. Especially for that girl, I decided to take her back to the station and kill the mother because the girl had a whole life ahead of her. She was too young to die, though I had no idea how old she was. Which got me wondering, so I got back on my phone and opened the file to do some more research on her. Plus, she could have been young enough to join the Mafia, that way she wouldn't have to die. It was most likely what was best for her.
Scrolling through loads of information, I finally found her age. She was 21 years old, living in an apartment building close to the center of Seoul. Which wasn't surprising, all the rich people lived there, but this apartment wasn't rich, nor was it cheap. It wasn't standard either, but it was slightly on the expensive side. It looked nice, and apparently she was also paying for it herself. That wasn't surprising either, she had a job at her father's company, which was most likely going to be passed on to her. It was a new job, but it was paying very nicely. She had been working almost non-stop that month. We had something in common. Eye roll.

I continued to learn information about this Y/N girl for the whole day! And surprisingly, we had more in common than I thought. We had similar interests and were both workaholics. She was single and unmarried, but had a close relationship with some guy named Changbin. Another eye roll. They weren't dating, but had been talking for years. Why was that a relief for me? Am I jealous?
Wait...
"No, no, no, no, no. I'm not jealous. I'm not like that! I'm Bang Chan, the merciless Mafia member! I don't like people, and I certainly don't have a crush on a girl that I know everything about..." (Face palm)
Sigh...
"Oh, what am I saying? Of course I do, I'm just that desperate." I say, quoting Hyunjin with a little Hyunjin impression, or a mock.
This wasn't good, but it wasn't that bad. I hadn't even met the girl and I was falling for her, she didn't even know anything about me! Whatever, it was fine. I just needed to pretend I didn't like her, that was all! Right? I knew that it wasn't going to be easy, but I had to try! Or else, I could be in a huge amount of trouble. If Lee Know found out that I liked her, he would most likely kill me...
This was fine, right? I had planned on going to kill Y/N's mother and kidnap Y/N in the middle of the night. So, I had some time to get everything organized. It was already 9:00 p.m. and I had been researching for the whole day! I hadn't even left the room other than to get food or go to the bathroom. But now, I had to get organized. This was going to be hard, but I had done many things similar to it, so I was fine.
Hopefully...
