Ugh...
I'm not good at talking about myself...
My age? I'm fifteen.
No. I'm not going to share my birthdate. Why? I don't like attention.
I'm Rose. Not sharing my last name since I can't ever go back.
Gloved hands snatched back a notebook and closed the cover as a pale girl glanced around at the others in the room. She was one of a handful of students who were unable to leave the campus of the boarding school they were living in. She groaned and blew her purple and black hair from her face as everyone else scrambled to their seats.
Rose wasn't her real name but one she had given herself based on the single rose she wore in her hair.
She hardly ever spoke to anyone for fear of them making fun of her melodic voice and yet she would play the flute in the privacy of her room. She wore gloves to protect others from her unwanted abilities of making them relive their worst regrets.
Rose sighed, clamping her black wings tightly against her back. She opened up her favorite mythology book to a random entry. She swiftly closed the book. The topic was on the Furies. She saw one of her classmates staring at her with a bored expression.
It was Terrance, the only boy who wore a scarf in class. He adjusted his scarf to hide his face and signed to her. "You alright, Rose?"
She shrugged and signed back. "Not really. Feeling cooped up."
She wasn't lying as she needed to stretch her wings but couldn't do it during the day or when the moon was out.
