Billie pov
Chapter 2
The middle-aged women that taught us finally made her way into the room thirty minutes before class ended. She was very late today, I was sure she may retire soon.
"Good morning class." Mrs.Williams, our teacher, started the science lesson.

In the middle of the lesson, the intercom came on in our classroom.
Sarah Williams, teacher please report the office for discussion.
My teacher paused momentarily, as if she were thinking, then began walking towards the office, opening and closing the door quietly as she left.
Everyone in the class knew she was being retired, and we sat quietly.
A about five minutes after Mrs. Williams left, a man came into the room.
"Hello students." a monotone voice started, "Your classes are over until we find a replacement for your teacher." The man dismissed us.
Everyone, including me, hesitantly stood up, as if someone would jump out of a cabinet and say 'It's just a joke, now get back to work.'
The class walked in a group until we were outside the school, where we dispersed to our homes.

Three hours laterI sat on the red couch, which sat by the entrance to my house.
A loudspeaker went off in my house and flashed bright lights that bounced off everything glass, as a voice began to speak.
"Attention all citizens, the rebels of our society have gotten past the gates. Do not leave your homes."
The message repeated three times before stopping.
I would've thought they'd use a hologram for this important of a message, but, I guess not for this.
I hope my parents' workplace got the message, otherwise, anyone in those places could be killed.
The city's official had made it clear that rebels killed anyone they could, or captured them to use for bargaining with the city.
In short, rebels were ruthless, murdering machines.
I knew there were no safe rooms installed in my home, so I simply sat behind the counter in the kitchen.

Everything was silent for what felt like hours, but in reality it was only abbot thirty minutes.
My mind began thinking by itself, I slowly started to stand up, but stopped when I heard someone pounding on the door.
My logical mind came into view and screamed at me.
What are you thinking? Get down!
I dropped back into a sitting position on the ground after that. Then, I heard first, a crack, then something slam onto the ground and a breeze started flowing into the house.
I was tempted by my curiosity to stand up and see, but that would reveal myself, and I don't know who's there.
I had an inner battle about this in my mind, finally deciding to stay down.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
A metal canister slowly rolled its way towards me. I looked at it for a moment, contemplating weather or not to pick it up for a closer examination.
No!
My brain yelled at me again, sternly.
I listened and decided against holding the canister.
Then, as soon as I decided, it began emitting a gas. It gave me a coughing fit so, I covered my mouth with my arm.
Soon enough, the gas began to surround me, and started looking like a fog, that blinded me.
It started to cover me, which in turn made it so in certain moments I stopped breathing and I began to feel dizzy.
I didn't notice that the fog / gas was clearing until I started falling forwards, face first into the floor, blacking me out.
