Low rumbling vibrations could be heard running around the streets, sounds of cheering and chatter filled the air around. It was time, time for the famous race called 'Phantom Riders' to begin...
Felix's Day Dream
It was when I was seven I discovered my love for riding and motorbikes. Ever since that day I have been obsessed and determined to get to the top of the biker community. And... I made it.
3rd Pov
It was 3rd period, English and Felix was sitting at his desk daydreaming about his life, and where his passion for bikes come from. He wasn't sure why it suddenly became interesting but after his dad took him out one day to go watch a motorcycle race, he was captivated by the amazing sight, the perfect pitch that the engines sang and the sliding tires against the ground. He loved it all. This whole daydream began when one of his teachers asked for everyone to write a little story about what they were passionate about, which got him thinking.
Felix was 21 and he was enrolled in College studying Photography and Art, he always loved going around and taking photos of everything he saw beautiful, and his passion to share his imagination through art. He entered College with his 3 friends, Chan, Changbin and Jeongin, after moving to Korea Chan introduced them to him, and they have been friends since then. They later realised they all shared one similar passion- Motorbikes. After each of them managed to get a job they soon started saving as much money as they could to be able to afford their dream bikes. When they did, they decided to create a group 'VENOM' with Chan being the leader.
Chans Pov
My heart was beating strongly and my palms began to sweat. I was sitting at my chair eagles waiting for a particular mail to come through that was due at 11am today. What I was waiting for? I had signed up VENOM into one of the most famous races in South Korea, 'Phantom Riders' people all around Korea would gather here to show off their group's force. It was biker heaven! I was waiting, waiting and waiting to see if we had got accepted in, I was on the edge of my chair nearly falling off really. Suddenly a pop sound escaped my laptop, followed by a pop-up notification. It was them... Opening the mail I read slowly.
To VENOM,
Thankyou for sending your application to us; 'Phantom Riders'. We are pleased to say that your application was accepted! Further information about the race will be sent directly to this email on the 20th of May at 8pm.
-Phantom Riders
I almost flipped my laptop after reading that email, I was beyond happy. I closed the email, shut my laptop and bolted off to find the others. It was around 3rd period so I assumed most of them would be in English.
I knew Felix's English class was room 25A so I rushed there first. Running up to the door I threw it open and looked for Felix, in return I got a few looks but I didn't care. I found Felix and tapped his shoulder excitedly.
"Yo Felix bro! What you doing sleepin' in class?" I laughed. Felix woke up looking all groggily and confused, he looked straight up to me and a big smile spread over his face "Hi Chan!" He said happily.
"I've got the best news man... WE GOT IN!" My tone suddenly rising, Felix face dropped suddenly, you couldn't tell whether he was happy or not, but then he quickly jumped out of his seat and gave me a massive hug "REALLY" He yelled unlatching himself from me "WE GO IN TO THE 'PHANTOM RIDERS' RACE?" He continued to yell, he obviously wasn't bothered by the fact there were other people in this class, although it looked like he did notice and turned around and bowed slightly at him. Most of them had no clue what was going on since they were speaking in English.
"Did I hear 'Phantom Riders'?" Someone whispered, then a few more whispers gathered "Isn't that like where all the cool motorcycle groups go?" Another whisper was heard. I was looking around at everyone whispering and chattering then someone approached me "Did I hear that you guys got accepted into the 'Phantom Riders' race? Like the holy ground for underground riders?" He asked. I nodded at his questions, shock grew on his face, he turned back to his friends and eventually news spread like wildfire that day, we had become the hot topic.
Later that day I eventually had found Changbin and Jeongin and shared the news, but they seemingly had already heard it which didn't surprise me. I wish I could've told them myself. We were endlessly talking about the underground race and how it might look and what we should expect, what we should wear, should we get custom jackets with their group name on it or should we make our bikes cool looking. We came to the conclusion we would get some cool custom jackets to compliment our group name with our biker nicknames on them as well. We agreed to get green, vintage styled jackets.
School was coming to an end so I packed up all my stuff and sent a message to the boys
Wild Goose
Channie: Want to go for a ride on this arvo'? Sent 4:25pm
Brownie Boy: Hell yeah, where to? Sent 4:26pm
Muscle Man: I'll come along as well! Where ya at innie! Sent 4:30pm
Breb: Yeah, yeah! I'll fly with y'all too! Sent 4:40pm
Channie: Meet in our usual spot🙂
Our usual spot we would normally meet up was under one of the bridges, basically no one ever went there- we tagged the place as well so people knew this spot was taken. Heading back to my apartment, dropping my stuff and getting changed into some nicer clothes, I grabbed my keys and headed out. Throwing myself over my bike and settling in I gave it a slight rev and sped off to our spot.
Arriving at our spot pulling into under the bridge I parked my bike and sat against the cold concrete ledge. The spot was quite pretty, there was glistening water and overgrown plants, it felt surreal. I could hear deep rumbles approaching me from behind, turning I saw the other boys had finally got here. Jumping up and walking over to them I shot them a bright smile. They parked their bikes next to mine and walked to me "Yo Chan!" Felix hummed "Where are we going to ride tonight?" They all asked me. "I was thinking about the old 'Phantom Rider' track, the one they used for their last race, see what the place is like and get a feel for it" I said. The boys all nodded in agreement then so we headed off on our bikes to the old track.
We eventually arrived at the track after a long refreshing ride, it was always the greatest feeling when we all rode together. We parked our bikes and began to walk over to the track, the track was vast and amazing, we all mutually agreed to come back again and race on it. Suddenly we could hear light chatter forming from behind one of the walls, we all looked over instantly all seeing these few heads slowly pop out, 'who were they' was running through my head, we all ducked our heads back away and hid quietly, listening to them...
