Nova reaches her best friends house panting. She has ran all the way from the beach to her house which is two blocks away. While closing the door she leans against it seeing her friends on Anna's couch. They are watching a movie, Alices head on Anna's lap.
"How is she?" Nova puts her shoes by the door and walks to the couch. Gianna is gently brushing the blonde girls hair.
"Where the fuck were you" she whisper shouts not wanting to wake up her friend.
"Alex... he asked me if i wanted to breathe so we walked to the beach" Nova sits down on a chair next to the sofa.
"Is there something you guys aren't telling me?" Gianna questions.
"What?!" Nova says abit too loudly waking up the girl who is sleeping in Giannas lap.Alice rubbs her eye and sits up seeing Nova sitting next to her. She looks at her friends confused before standing up and running through the bathroom.
Gianna and Nova stay in the living room.
"I just leave for two months and suddenly this soccer player is in our group and you leave a party with him?"Nova sighs, she isn't wrong for questioning it but she should know her best friend better.
"Nothing is going on with Alex and me, I don't know if you want answers go to Kyle." Nova stands up and walks upstairs to change out of her clothes.~~~
Monday morning, Nova is still lying in bed as she lets her alarm ring. She really doesn't feel like going especially after leaving Alex on the beach. They aren't exactly friends but she just left without any explanation.
Her mom yells at her to close the alarm so Nova groans turning off the alarm and getting dressed in jeans and a jumper. She looks at her phone seeing it is 7.35 which means that Gianna would pick her up in ten minutes. She rushes downstairs to make herself a toast and greet her sister and dad who are sitting eating breakfast. She makes it through the door as soon as her best friend pulls up and takes a bite of her toast.
They sing on their way to school and say their goodbyes before heading to class. Nova walks into math class where she sees a golden haired boy sitting at the desk next to her usual spot. She sits down and greets Alexander who is smiling at her. Nova takes out her notebook starting to scribble down more lyrics.
"What are you writing?" Alex asks softly. He smelled good, fresh, his chin length hair still pushed back by a white cap.
"Some lyrics." Nova says while not lifting her eyes. Alex hums and tries to read them right before she shuts her notebook and focuses on the math assignment instead.Alexander chuckles lightly also getting back to work on the algebra assignment. Sometimes leaning over to see Novas answers when he wasn't sure of his own. That's how class continues, Nova writing down an answer and Alex copying it right after.
They don't see each other again until lunch where surprisingly he is sitting with them again. Nova sits down next to Alice and sips her diet coke. Lunch goes by surprisingly well, Gianna is still slightly dubious about Alexander and his presence but deals with it a lot better than during Thursday.
It continues that way for the whole week. Alex is next to Nova in maths copying her work and sits with their friend group during lunch. Giannas trust growing for him. After a week of her being back in the states she even starts calling him Alex. Nova is 99.9% sure that Gianna has been the only person who has called him Alexander consistently since he became the most popular guy in school. Which was three years ago.
In history class Gianna, Alice and Nova had been given an assignment to create a presentation about the romanovs. So after school they walk into their usual thursday cafe, order their usual lattes and sit down by the table where they have sat since freshman year. The girls sit down and start working on the history project assigned to them before hearing a bunch of noise entering.
