Criminal Case: Shadows of Qyshin

Chapter 2: Next Level Investigation

It only took William and Dae ten seconds to go to Next Level Building.

A little brief on what exactly is Next Level: it is a famous technological company, creator of famous technological products dated back in 2019. Their current main base location is in Qyshin, making the city look even more futuristic than it already is.

William shook off his arm, turning off his smartwatch. "Shake your arm to turn off your watch. I forgot to tell you that."

Dae nodded, turning off his smartwatch, and then his goggles.

He shouted. "Let's go!"

William nodded.

Unfortunately for them, the receptionist robot didn't accept outsiders.

"Restricted access. Do not enter." The robot said.

William pulled out something from his pocket. An access card. "William Grayson, Next Level Information Division. Let us in, now!"

The robot's eyes turned green, a sign that access is granted.

"Pass is valid. Opening access now."

William and Dae quickly ran inside the building a second after the door dissolved.

"Wait!" Dae stopped. "Look!"

William stopped, immediately realized what Dae was pointing at.

A woman was found lying on the floor, being stabbed and beaten brutally.

"Is she dead?" William walked closer.

"I think so." Dae pulled out his phone, calling for backups. "Officer Kim here. Send backups to Next Level Building immediately, copy."

William examined the dead body with his bare eyes, recognized the person in a single look. "Céline!"

Dae suddenly turned around, panicked. "Céline Dioré, the head of Next Level?! She's the victim?!"

William nodded. "Unfortunately so."

"We've got a big case on our hands, then! We'd better catch whoever killed Céline, quickly! Before this goes out!"

William stand up. "Astra, scan this place for possible clues."

Drone Astra flew to the center of the room, examining the entire place.

"Excuse me, are you the Police?"

Dae and William turned their heads at the same time. A woman was standing in front of them, wearing a security guard uniform.

"Yes." Dae pulled out his police ID. "We are the Qyshin Police Agency, you called I suppose?"

"Yeah. I'm Michelle Barren, a security guard." The security guard introduced herself. "I heard some dispute going on in her office, and I checked if Céline was okay, then I saw her like...like this."

"Alright then, Michelle. Please step aside. We'll be asking some questions." William walked closer to Michelle, bringing her out of the crime scene while Dae and Drone Astra were looking for clues.

"Alright, Michelle, tell me-"

"Aren't you supposed to not be here until tomorrow?" Michelle seemed to recognize William.

"Yeah, Céline said she wanted to talk to me about something urgent. I guess I'll never know what that urgent thing was."

"I see. Are you affliated with the Police now?"

"Starting today, yeah. It's nice to work outside of my comfort zone for once." William tucked some of his hair into his ears, turning on his smartwatch to activate it's voice recorder. "Okay, tell me everything. You heard a dispute in Céline's office, right? Do you know who was she fighting with?"
