Hola, my name is Hector Cruz-Lopez I currently live in Chicago. Not for long though because of my Uncles' new job. We are going to move to a suburban neighborhood in Vermont, he is going to work as a butcher and sell sausages he tells me. My mom Juana is now busy all the time looking for a job. Life has been hard for her ever since my dad was deported back to Guatemala when I was 8 now I'm 13.
"He was deported for something he never did" they say. That's all they tell me. My Mom and my Uncle on the other hand are safe they have both gotten citizenship after year of being in this country. This big country hundreds of years old and still unfair. In History we learned about Irish, German, and Hungarian Immigrants looking for a job just to get money and they were accepted by law. By all the men and women all ready here. That's what my mom and dad were looking for. My mom and my uncle are from El Salvador. They came to the U.S. looking to escape the Civil war there.
Now my Uncle (My Moms' Brother) lives with us and he's pretty fun if I do say so my self. After my dad got sent back he came in to the family and we are grateful for that. He's like a helping hand in times of need. Still he can't replace my dad. Having a deported dad is like having a dead one. You can never see him, maybe hear him by phone. He can never do stuff for me. And knowing that must be frustrating For him.
On the bright side I'm gonna be living in a house and not still in an apartment. I have probably been living in an apartment for all my life. So its not all bad. I might even make new friends.
I am going to miss my old friends; my mom won't buy me a phone so I can't text them and stuff. I'm gonna start from zero, from nothing in a place where every one is a stranger and probably won't accept me. Just because I'm different. It's not my fault. In fact, it's their loss if they hate me. Because I'm proud to be different. I'm proud to be Hispanic.
Nothing or none can take that feeling away from me.
