[Adam's bucket list]

1. Meet Lucifer
2. Punch his fucking pretty face
3. Interrogate and get the fucking answer

Yeah, simple!
Adam put down the pen and looked at what he had just written. Then he burned it so that no one would find it. Yeah, those simple things took seven years. He waved a hand to remove the smoke.

He had tried these for the last seven years. On the first extermination day, he had chased Lucifer in the rain like cats and dogs. But he had failed.

As it turned out, it was the closest approach he had ever had success with.

On the second and third, he couldn't even see anything of the king. On the fourth, he found Lucifer through the castle's window. But then Lucifer closed the curtain. What Adam could do was only glare at the window.

On the fifth, he failed to track him again. On the sixth and seventh years, because Lute had kept her eyes on him the whole time, he couldn't even leave the battlefield. She said nothing, but Adam supposed she was following orders from her highest superior.

Sera had started to suspect Adam. She knew Adam had been trying to meet Lucifer.

Adam, one of the seraphim, was in the top class in the hierarchy. But he was restricted from accessing the core secrets sometimes. There was a clear line between Adam and the other Seraphim.

Adam guessed Lucifer had been hiding something, and Sera knew it. But she would never disclose it as she had done before.

Yeah, that's what heaven does. Adam clenched his jaws.
Fooling people with those plastic smiles, telling them this is for their own good.

Adam had followed their rules. Even though he had had free will since being an angel, he couldn't defy heaven. He had chosen to be a good kid to them and benefited from them.

But after he had met Lucifer again, he couldn't take it any longer.

So Adam had to find it out himself. Adam had never been obsessed with something to this extent. He had been pretending to be casual in front of angels so as not to look suspicious, but for the last seven years, his mind had been full of meeting Lucifer again every day.

He had to know what the inner voice meant. The name of those freaking strong emotions. The reason why his emptiness of life had never been filled forever. What he had lost and what he should find.

If I can get neither permission nor information, okay then.
I'm going to go to hell by myself.

...

"Uncle Adam!"

After many attempts over seven years, Adam had invented a new idea. To escape the vigilance of the seraphim, he should become well-versed in their schedules. That was the only way he could uncover the secret passage to hell.

The key to this plan is a bit...annoying, though.
"Emily," Sera said gently. "You really like him."
"Yes! He's so funny and silly. I like him."

Emily was the youngest member of the Seraphim. Despite being one of the powerful angels, she was, in Adam's words, naive and childish so Sera tended to be overly protective of her.

Emily clung to Adam like a monkey. Adam tried not to let the corner of his mouth drop.

"Thank you for taking care of her, Adam. I thought you would find it bothering."

"NO- no ho-hoo! I'm the first man, Sera! The sitter-master. I see every kid as my kid." Emily climbed up to his shoulder, playing with his hair.

Sera smiled in relief and left her with the man.
