Honey

The loud music made me wince as we walked into the house. I still hadn't found out whose house exactly but I guess that was a lost cause at this point. Summer had explained to me that we were going to a kickback, a small get-together, if you will. This was not that. There were at least fifty people here and we were pretty much right on time, which meant we were very early.

Summer looked pretty comfortable as she bobbed her head to whatever song was blasting through the speakers. However, I looked around frantically for at least one familiar face. Paige basically hinted that most of the team wouldn't be here when we arrived but Justine told Summer and I that she knew who was throwing the event, so she'd be one of the first ones here.

I took a deep breath and grabbed my best friend's hand, pulling us both toward the kitchen area. It had looked like the least crowded place in the home after her several scans of the place. Yes, after seeing the size of the crowd, I had decided to put myself on mom duty.

"Oh, no no no." Summer shouted over the music. "We ubered. You are not Type A-ing tonight!"

"I was okay with that plan when I thought this was a smaller party," I shrugged as we reached the kitchen. I turned around just to see her covering her ears, pretending not to hear me. "Very mature."

"LaLaLa, I can't hear you! It's shot o' clock!" Summer uncovered her ears to pour us drinks. She did two shots each. "Take it."

"Fine," I sighed, grabbing one glass. "But, only if the DJ plays Somebody by Jung Kook."

"They are not going to play K-Pop!"

"That song's in English!"

"I knew when I heard bickering I was going in the right direction," I heard, along with a laugh from beside me. "When did you two show up?"

"Hey, J!" Summer exclaimed, coming over to greet the girl with a hug. "Guess who just got Cranky Pants to take two shots!?"

"Um, hello?!" I held up one glass. "I've only taken one."

"Bottoms up then, mama," Justine wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "We gotta go dance."

The nickname caught me so off guard, that I recklessly took it in one gulp. Ironically, Bottoms Up by Trey Songz started to play and Summer dragged us to the dance floor.

I was actually having a good time. I don't know if it was the vodka or the music but I hadn't stopped dancing since I got on the floor. I was currently dancing on a coffee table to a Megan Thee Stallion song, having a Kat Stratford moment. Nevermind, it was definitely the vodka.

After a spin, I lock eyes with the blonde I was waiting to arrive.

"What the hell are you doing up there?" Paige said with a smile as she walked up to me.

"The real question is, what are you doing," I pointed sassily at her. "Down there!"

"Ooookay." She nodded and walked closer, grabbing me by my hips and lifting me to place me back on the ground. "I like you better where I can see the top of your head."

"I knew you liked me," I teased, looking up at her and then back down at her hands. They haven't left my hips.

"You're drunk."

"A little bit."

"Come on. Let's get you some water." She tried to pull me away but I make my body limp.

"No, let's daaaance!" I responded with a pout. She just gave me a blank stare. "Please?"

"Honey..."

"Pleaseeee,"

"Hon—"

"Please! They're on a Meg marathon!" I jumped up and down as I begged. Paige looked up, squinting her eyes, before bringing her eyes back to mine.

"This is Beyoncé.." She smirked at me.

"Well..." I pursed my lips, slightly embarrassed. "That's an even better reason for us to dance."

"You aren't giving up, are you?" She chuckled. "One dance."

"Three!"

"One dance, Honey."

Paige

We were four songs in and my hands hadn't left her side. I refused. It was already pretty crowded but something in me needed Honey to stay as close to me as humanly possible. She was originally facing me but sometime during the last song, she'd turn around and started strategically moving against me, it seemed.

Weirdly, this felt like it was for the best. If I had kept looking into her eyes, I was going to do something I'd regret.

"Oh, this is my song!" Honey had shouted that at every song change. This exclamation being about Waka Flocka's No Hands.

She bent down and started moving faster as I supported her hips against me. Damn, I going to be thinking about this for a while...

"Well, don't you two look like you're having fun!" Nika joked, handing me a red solo cup. I sniffed it. Tequila.

"Did you just bring me straight Patron?" I asked her with a confused look on my face. "Not even a chaser?"

"What's a chaser?" She shrugged. "Americans are such punk ass drinkers.."

"Nika, oh my gosh!" And just like that Honey was out of my grip to hug the Croatian girl and I missed it.

A Lot.
