" there's no place like
my room."

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐄, hasn't been as terrible as I thought it would be. He barely hovered, and was nice enough to give me my own personal space most of the time. Despite this being his house, he never once walked into my room, only knocking softly when he needed to get my attention. It was drastic change from what my father was like, and I enjoyed it.
I submitted another assignment before shutting down the computer. Charlie had enrolled me in online school after realizing that my therapy schedule conflicted with what would have been the schedule of my classes. But even after I was finished with therapy, switching to public school never became a topic again. I didn't mind this, I actually enjoyed being away from people, since it was all I knew how to do.
I almost tripped over a pile of fabrics on the floor when a knock appeared at my door. "yes?" I asked, straightening myself up. I should really find a new place for those.
"Just letting you know, I'm about to go pick up Isabella, so I won't be home for an hour or two. Do you want to come with or will you be okay on your own?" He spoke through the closed door. A small smile made its way on my face as I realized I had an option in this.
"I'll be okay here." I called out. I had honestly forgotten all about Isabella's arrival, so I never got the chance to get dressed. I looked down at my over-worn backstreet boys t-shirt and scrunched my nose up. It would've definitely made quite the first impression.
"alright." I heard him sigh.
I spent the whole time alone wondering what Isabella's reaction would be. I felt weird and awkward knowing she was coming home to meet some random stranger her dad picked up from the hospital. I wouldn't blame her if she didn't want me here anymore, or if she hated me for stealing her father for a year. But since I was still only 16, I wouldn't be able to legally move out, so there was nothing I could do to appease her.
My breath got caught in my throat as I heard the cruiser pull up. I paced back and forth around my room, struggling to think of what'd I'd say to her. Living with Charlie hasn't necessarily improved my social skills, so I still had no idea how to interact with people.
"we're home, Vivienne!" Charlie announced from down stairs. My stomach churned as I heard them walking up, and closer towards my room.
I took in a deep breath and opened the door. Unfortunately, she hadn't made it to her room yet, and the sudden noise of my door opening made her flinch. I watched with guilt as her suitcase dropped onto the floor.
