"𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎 𝐄𝐀𝐓 anything?" Jessica asked as she stared at the empty space in front of me. I hadn't eaten anything at school yet, despite promising Bella I would.

"I'm just not hungry." I shrugged with a blank expression. I was telling the truth. Growing up, I never ate much, since my father would deprive me of most of my meals. After a while, my body just got used to the lack of food, causing my stomach to shrink in the process. It was hard for me to eat a full meal, let alone multiple like regular people do. I never had an appetite, and most things made me sick to the stomach.

"do you have some sort of eating disorder?" she wondered. I could tell she wasn't asking out of worry, with the judgmental glare she was throwing at me.

"no." It wasn't my choice. I would eat a whole 7 course meal if I could.

She scoffed and picked at her food with her fork. "right, well, then, if you're going to act like a Cullen, you might as well go sit with them."

I ignored her snarky comment and looked towards them. I met Jasper's eyes by accident. He was staring at me with an unreadable expression, though his body posture was stiff again. I threw him a small frown and looked at the others.

Jasper's brunette sister, Alice, was also looking at me. Her lips were pulled down into the faintest pout and her eyebrows were pulled together. The sight of her seeming down made me sad.

"hey, Vivi, have you heard about the spring dance?" Eric asked me from across the table, taking my attention away from the Cullens. This question seemed to peak Mike's interest as well, because he was quick to glance over at me.

"yeah." I nodded. I had overheard Jessica talking about it with Angela on the way here.

"do you have a date yet?" he wondered, trying to seem indifferent as he broke eye contact and stared at his hands.

"no." I replied truthfully. I hadn't given it much thought yet. "I don't even know much about it — when is it?"

"next friday."

My eyes widened. "oh, that's so soon."

"don't worry, I hear that not many people have dates." Eric reassured.
