Meerab slammed down her office telephone, her dangling white coat snatched from its coat hanger as she hurriedly pulled her arms through. Her body passed the vitality of the hospital bumping into a few people as she reached the entrance, her heart's thumping so loud it was audible to her. Meerab halted at the sight that beheld her, inside she was crumbling but she had to put a strong face for him.

"I need all nurses and doctors to treat everyone's injuries ASAP!" Her voice echoed the vast halls of the hospital before she marched towards her husband and grabbed him and led him to her office.

Murtasim Gill was no ordinary man, in fact he was above and beyond, a modern time feudal lord in the region of Punjab was a job for no typical man. His charismatic appearance was a bonus, from his chiselled jaw, perfectly shaped beard and kundiya muchha to his brooding persona, to say he was good looking was an understatement, this man was the epitome of handsome. He had continued his family tradition and well surpassed that, becoming the most influential feudal lord in recent times. Out of all the extraordinary things the Murtasim Gill had achieved in his life, the most extraordinary exceeded them all, his wife.

Meerab Gill was regarded as exceptional herself, at the age 24 she had managed to get her Doctorate of Medicine creating history, and establishing herself as a well known doctor in Punjab, just like her husband's command on people and politicians, Mrs Gill ran the medical system at the tip of her fingers. It may just as well be that she managed to also woo one of the most wanted men in the state. Astonishing, isn't it?

"Ouch Meerab, babe, can't you be a little more gentler?" Murtasim flinched slightly at the sudden contact of rubbing alcohol infected cotton ball with his wound which displayed on the edge of his forehead, one of the many wounds he had on his face. Murtasim's remark earned him a glare from his official wedded wife. Without uttering a word she blew on his wound to relieve him of the pain, the cool wind from her breath put him to ease while she bandaged up the rest of the cuts.

Her legs were tangled in his as she sat on his lap treating his injuries while his hands slid up and down her back occasionally resting at her waist. If anyone walked in on them in this position Meerab was sure her reputation would be scarred for life, but it couldn't be helped when your husband has recklessly injured himself dealing with other feudal lords even when you especially and strictly instructed him to not be violent.

But do they ever listen? No. The answer is no by the way.

"Why do you always have to get hurt? It breaks my heart to see you get hurt, it always has." Meerabs voice came out soft and delicate as she cupped his cheeks within her hands. Her eyes glistened as she rapidly blinked trying to avoid tears from escaping.

Murtasim's eyes softened as he looked at her, he pulled her closer and tightened his grip on her waist. Insanely overwhelmed by the love he felt in the moment, he dropped feathery kisses on her face. He understood the fear and concern she had for him, whether it be a slight graze or a bigger incident she would be the one more affected than him. He always made an effort and tried to solve things calmly and without mishap, for her, but his job asked him otherwise.

A sense of comfort and tranquillity engulfed the room as they both sat there in silence within each other's embrace, they both understood their situation and tried to live accordingly but sometimes it was a little overwhelming for Meerab, for both actually.

Murtasim cursed the silence that filled the room, he loved hearing Meerab talk, she could be talking about anything and he would happily listen just to hear her voice, to bury himself in her presence. That's what he wanted, until the end of his days for his ears to be filled with her voice.

"You know, this sorta reminds me of the first time we met", he said with his chin placed on her hair. His breath fanned hot on her hair, making her feel ticklish with the instantaneous burst of air.

Meerab hummed into his chest, "but back then things were different, our world's were so different and we didn't like each other."

"Take that back right now, I always liked you, it was you who hated me", Murtasim took full offense to that, never had this man ever displayed a single emotion where he loathed her. How could he even imagine it?

A chuckle escaped Meerab as she snuggled within Murtasim even more while stretching out one arm to examine her wedding ring. Murtasim's hand slid right over intertwining his hand with hers, both of their hands and their rings complimenting each other. Their beginnings were a little rough, a little patchy but destiny had something planned for them.
