On three different days, each one landing on the birthday of the victim, three boys from England's prestigious Brighton College were murdered and brought to no justice. It was a complete mystery, no clues, no witnesses, nothing! This murderer was smart, too smart for any detective to investigate from the outside. Hence forth, seniors of the police department had requested that two juniors from Detective Academy should be sought out to investigate these murders inside Brighton College, as students.
So, that's why I, Elina Foxford, stand here amongst the many other students that hope to be chosen. I understand that I am a woman, but if the two elected students solve the mystery, they graduate early with a diploma and a frontline murder case on their resume! That would get them into any future investigation they desired.
"Elina Foxford? Aren't you a woman?" says an obnoxious voice beside me. I turn my gaze to my right to be met with Ashton's. "Hi to you to, Ashton." I mutter under my breath. "How do you plan to go into an all-boys school as a female?" he cackles. God, he's annoying. Ashton and I joined Detective Academy the same year, hence we are both 16 years old. It didn't matter where you were or what you were doing, he always had an opinion on something, and he'd always follow it up with that irritating cackle. A know-it-all. "I have a better chance than you, what if you expose that you are secretly a spy because of that loudmouth of yours?" I state. He glares at me before turning his head to the stage in front of us.
As students interested in this case finish lining ourselves up within the main hall, the lights begin to dim and the lights on the stage gleam onto the teacher below. "Hello students of Detective Academy, as you know I, Mr Jones, will be helping you during this investigation. Two of you will be elected as per some teacher feedback that we have gathered." He scrambles to the next slide of paper he is reciting from. "You will have three months to complete this investigation as students staying at Brighton College, otherwise the case is closed until any further murders may occur. A-any questions?" he looks up and into the murmuring crowd before a loud and displeasing voice speaks up beside me "Sir, how do we stay in contact with you if we are staying at Brighton the entire time?" Ashton questions. "I-I will give both students my mobile number and a digital watch. When this noise-" he plays a buzzing noise coming from the watch "goes off, that means your other t-teammate has triggered it as an alert for help or they have found a clue. With that, I will call out the names of both candidates." The murmuring dies down as the anticipation arises. Who will be the two students that save Brighton College and build a reputation for themselves?
