Y/N wandered downstairs, her make-up pristine, her hair freshly curled and her school uniform pristine, her skirt rolled up to her thighs and no blazer. As she walked into the kitchen a scent of Miss Dior perfume followed her. "Bloody hell what time did you wake up to do all of that?" her brother Nick asked whilst finishing off his Weetabix. "Only 5:30.", Y/N responded as she reached for a squares bar seen as they were both already on track to being late. "Come on you two!" their mum (Sarah) shouted as she whipped on her coat and grabbed her car keys.  It was the first day back to school after Christmas Holiday's. Nick and Y/N ran to the front of the car, each trying to sit in the front, and Sarah didn't have the time to have an argument so she told them both to sit in the back. Whilst in the car, Sarah said, "Y/N is all of that faff very necessary, I'm practically choking on your perfume." Y/N responded, "of course its necessary mum, it's the first day back I've got to show everyone I have changed" Nick then mumbled, "You were fine before, over summer you've become so obsessed with popularity its actually embarrassing", "says you" y/n responded. "That's enough from the pair of you!" Sarah Responded as she pulled up on the side of the road. As Y/N and Nick got out Sarah yelled out, "uh Y/N where is your blazer?!" to which Y/N responded, "sorry mum it hides the true me, got to express myself right?". Sarah huffed and drove off to work. It wasn't quick before Nick ran over to his mates who were sat outside Truham like always. I wandered into Higgs, praying that this year would be different to the last.

Y/N had been moved to a different form room, everything had changed. There was this new initiative set in place that form rooms would now have a mix of year groups. Y/N had been put into Ophelia. She walked into the classroom, it was a science classroom. She found her seat on the seating plan that was displayed on the board. She was on the back middle desk next to Imogen. "Great" Y/N mumbled. As Imogen surrounded herself with all of the girls that made fun of her last year. Just as Y/N went to introduce herself, Mr Farouk shouted, "QUIET". This made Y/N jump in her seat a little. The whole class was silent as he explained the next coming weeks, announcing new clubs and exciting events, one being the concert. Higgs and Truham usually did concerts and big fun days together at least twice a term and a most points it felt like we were just one massive school. Whilst Mr Farouk was rambling on about handing in letters for a Paris Trip, Imogen turned to Y/N and said, "have I met you before, just I've never really seen you around but you feel familiar." Y/N had two options and at this very moment she decided that this was going to be how she makes this year better. "I've been at this school since year 7, but I'm in the year below you so you probably just haven't seen me around" to which Imogen responded with "You are so pretty I don't know how I haven't noticed you before, what's your name?", "Y/N" you responded. Imogen reiterated that she felt like that name was familiar but couldn't really think why and dropped it. Soon the bell went off and it was first period, Y/N's favourite subject, PE.

As Y/N wandered to PE, so many people were looking at her, admiring her from afar. It made her so happy they weren't making fun of her and instead complimenting her. Nobody in the school knew that her and Nick were siblings. They didn't necessarily hide it, just Nick was popular and Y/N wasn't, or at least not yet. The Nelson's never usually invited people over to their house, as they all liked their privacy and Nellie (their dog) was fairly timid and wasn't a fan of big noise. Y/N finally arrived at PE and went to her usual spot and began getting changed. Her mum had finally let her get a skort instead of shorts, and it just made her feel that bit more mature. Today, they were doing cross country trials as they needed to get their team together as quickly as possible. Lots of the girls groaned at this as they dreaded running, Y/N joined in with the complaints however deep down was so happy. She like Nick was very sporty, although it wouldn't be expected as she was smaller and less muscular. Running was her favourite thing, especially cross country. As the girls walked across the field they were given the route that they had to go on. They were to run around the outside of Higgs English, Maths and Science block, and then run around the outside of Truham's PE, Maths and Drama Block before returning back tot the field and repeating it twice. Their PE teacher counted them down, and Y/N was off.
