IT WAS SUMMER OF 2014, and Michelle was outside on her front yard watering her grass. She bent over turning the water pressure up when she heard a voice from behind her "HEYYY MS. GREEN" she turnt around and smiled wide when she seen her close friend son Naveen on the sidewalk with nothing but some jeans on, sweat sliding down his chest

"Heyy, Naveen." She waved

"You need any help with that?" He raised an eyebrow "you know I'll do it for you."

"I know," I playfully rolled my eyes "but no I don't, thank you though"

He smacked his teeth "nah let me help you Ms. Williams, it's dangerous for you to be out here in the heat like that" he says walking up the lawn and grabbing the water hose from me feeling his fingers linger against my skin causing tingles "Naveen I said I'm okay." I dragged smiling as he watered my plants

"Yeah but you know, I love helping you. You too beautiful to be doing lawn work." He says side eyeing her with his everyday smirk

I rolled my eyes at his flirting "boy, would yo girlfriend like you flirting with lil ole me?"

"Asian? We broke up." He says making me frown

"Oh I'm sorry Naveen!" I say rubbing his shoulder all the way down his arms my nails pressing into his skin as I studied his fully tatted arm

"It's okay Ms. Green, I'm not tripping she toxic anyways, I like my women mature" he let mature roll slowly off his tongue as he made direct eye contact with me

"Mmhm, but are you ready for them mature women? Cause they can be tough too. They'll block you when they think you doing some wrong instead of popping up and yelling." I ask putting my hand on my hip as I raised an eyebrow "we'll have you stressing."

"Mm, I did say I want a mature woman but that doesn't mean all my ways will change. If I'm blocked I will find you. That's if I really love you tho if I'm playing you I wouldn't care what you do." He answers

"I see." I say giggling

"What you got planned for today?" He asked

"I'm meeting up with Terry today," I respond with a sigh

"For what?" He says

"He wanna go over the divorce settlement."

"Man that nigga a bitch, everything y'all had is yours so what fucking settlement?" He says and I could feel the anger radiating off him

"I know. He knows, but his lawyer still wants something so he could be paid." I rolled my eyes as I looked down at my nails

"Him and his lawyer can be settled with the afterlife." Naveen says simply and I immediately shake my head

"No boy! Stop talking like that. You not going to prison for nothing dumb. Ima handle it" I say knowing how serious he was

Naveen was somewhat of a gangbanger, he was fully affiliated with a gang and he did runs every now and then. He was protected and did the protecting that's why he was always wearing new shit because of the dangerous stuff he was always getting into. Michelle wanted to get him out of the life but his mother ain't care as long as she was getting money she was okay with it but what if one day her son don't come home?

"It's not dumb cus it got some to do with you." He says as he went back to watering her plants

"Mhmm." She hummed, despite that short response she felt a kick at her heart but she knew she couldn't take it seriously

After he finished, she handed him a $20 dollar bill and he pushed it back towards her "I'm good"

"Boy take this money." She says sternly

"Ion need it Ms Greem I promise" he says balling her hand up in his

"Just take it. You think ima let you do all my lawn work with no pay?"

He shook his head and grabbed the money which made her smile

"ah!" She made a sound she never heard come out of her mouth before.

Naveen had his hand on her butt he slid the 20 into her back pocket and patted her butt "like I said." He says sternly as he removes his hand

"Naveen oh my god! You c-can't do that!" Her voice cracks

"Why not?" He tilts his head in genuine confusion

"Because! I'm friends with your mother and – I don't give a fuck. Excuse my language, but Ms Green you know I don't care about that never did." He says staring at her with wanting eyes

She avoided his gaze as she bit the inside of his lip "Naveen.." she mumbled

"Ms Green – Naveen!" Somebody called out

They both turnt their gaze to a red car with blacked out windows as the passenger seat window rolled down "come on bruh" the male waved

Naveen looked back at Ms Green "I'll see you later" he leaned in and kissed her cheek

She watched him walk away; confused, conflicted, and a hint of curiosity..
