I'm sitting in my room, trying to distract myself from guilt inside me. Karina walks in with a smirk.
"What's with the long face, Lizzie? Did your favorite character get killed off in that nerdy show you're always watching?"
I roll my eyes, but her comment gives me an idea. "Actually, yeah, kind of. It's this show I've been binging on, and there's this character who's faced with this impossible decision. You know, one of those classic moral dilemmas."
Karina flops down on my bed, looking intrigued. "Sounds juicy."
I take a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Okay, so imagine this character gets invited to this super exclusive event, right? Like, the opportunity of a lifetime. But the catch is, they're only invited because of something that hurt people they care about. So now they're torn between seizing this amazing opportunity and feeling guilty about it. What would you do in their shoes?"
Karina hums thoughtfully, tapping her chin as she mulls it over. "Well, it depends. Did this character directly cause the situation, or are they just caught up in the aftermath?"
I shake my head. "No, it's more like they were indirectly involved. Like, they didn't mean for things to go south, but what they did had a horrible consequence."
Karina nods in understanding. "Got it. In that case, I'd say go for it. Why let a little drama get in the way of a golden opportunity?"
I furrow my brow, feeling a twinge of doubt creeping in. "But what if going would just make things worse? Like, what if it ends up hurting the people they care about even more?"
Karina shrugs, a dismissive smirk playing on her lips. "Well, that's their problem, isn't it? Why should someone miss out on something amazing just because of their drama that's not even their fault?"
Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, leaving me feeling more conflicted than ever. Maybe she's right. Maybe I shouldn't let someone else's problems hold me back from seizing an opportunity.
But still, a nagging voice in the back of my mind reminds me of the guilt. "I don't know, Karina. It just sounds wrong, you know? Like betraying someone's trust."
Karina waves a hand dismissively, rolling her eyes. "Oh, please. It's not like the person is directly responsible for whatever mess happen. So why suffer because of it?"
I sigh, feeling torn between my desire for this opportunity and the guilt eating away at my conscience. Maybe Karina's right. Maybe I should just go for it and worry about the consequences later.
But as I stare down at my phone, contemplating whether to continue to the function, I can't shake the feeling that something just isn't right.
Later that evening, Videoverse sent me the schedule of the entire function. I'm buzzing with excitement as I scroll through the schedule that Videoverse sent over. The event looks even more amazing than I imagined, with panels featuring some of the biggest influencers in the industry and exclusive product launches.
"Dang, this is gonna be epic!" I exclaim, practically bouncing on my bed.
I quickly shoot off a reply to Videoverse, agreeing to meet up at the designated spot and time. As I hit send, a surge of excitement washes over me, and I can't help but grin from ear to ear.
"This is gonna be so much fun," I gush, already mentally planning my outfit for the big day.
I bite my lip, my mind racing with possibilities.
As I dive into my closet, pulling out various pieces and holding them up to inspect, I can feel the anticipation building with each passing second. This event is gonna be the highlight of my year, I just know it. And nothing, not even Jaehyun's sadness, can dampen my excitement.
