Going Solo

Chapter 4

They arrived home faster than they wanted and was met with Hoseok in the kitchen who seemed to be on the phone. They watched him pace around the room, completely unaware of the rest of them entering.

"I know, eomma," Hoseok said with a grin. "No, I'm not scared. I mean, I'm going solo," he said loudly and everyone just froze. Hoseok continued conversation normally but paused when he noticed a pair of 6 eyes staring at him who had expressions of hurt across their faces. "I'll call you back, eomma," he said suddenly and after a few seconds he hung up on the phone. "What's wrong?!" he asked worriedly as he rushed towards his friends. "Did something happen at practice?" he asked but received the maknae line pulling him into a group hug in response.

"Please don't," Jimin muttered weakly.

"What are you talking about?" Hoseok said as he looked at the hyung line for an explanation but was met with them giving equally distressed faces.

"You can't leave us," Taehyung said firmly though if anyone noticed the tears in his eyes, they said nothing.

"What? Next week?" Hoseok said in surprise, "I'm only leaving for a while okay?"

"Don't leave at all," Jungkook spouted suddenly and it left the older in surprise.

"I don't understand."

"Hoseok," Yoongi raised his voice, "Is that it? Are you just going to tell us 'Oh by the way I'm leaving. It's been fun but I have to go now bye'?!"

"Hyung-" Hoseok started but was cut off when Seokjin grabbed Yoongi's hand.

"Yoongi," the eldest said angrily.

"Hope-ah, why didn't you tell us?" Namjoon said in a dejected tone with teary eyes, "We've been together for 7 years, did you not think to talk about it with me? or Suga hyung?"

"I thought you'd be happy for me?" he said, his face still dumbfounded at how passionate his members were reacting over such a thing.

"We want to be, Hobi," Seokjin muttered, "But you have to understand, we were caught off guard," he explained and Yoongi tightened his grip on his hyung's hand.

"Who told you anyway? It was supposed to be a surprise!" Hoseok said as he continued to rub the backs of the maknae line who still refused to let him go.

"Kookie and I overheard you talking to Bang PD-nim," Taehyung muttered, "And you pretty much just confirmed it now to your mom."

"I honestly don't see why you're getting so worked up over something like this?" Hoseok said and everyone just paused and the maknaes all took a step back. "I mean, aren't you guys being way too attached?" he said but regretted his words once he said it because that was when Jimin burst into tears, followed by the rest of the members. Suga kept his face angry but the tears in his eyes were evident, Namjoon and Seokjin kept wiping their eyes with their sleeves while the youngest ones just surrendered. The wave of silence Hoseok was met with left him even more confused and he was about to say something again when everyone's phones went off. He glanced down at his phone and widened his eyes.

"Bang PD just released the announcement," he muttered. Yoongi turned around, released Seokjin's hand and just walked into his room. The slam of the door loud enough for everyone to hear. Seokjin sighed as he went after him and Namjoon felt conflicted as he stared between Hoseok and his dongsaengs.

"What do you want me to say here?" Hoseok said, "I won't do it?" he asked and Namjoon bit his lip. "I can't believe you're all acting so distressed about this!"

"Hoseok, we just-"

"So I finally get solo activities and suddenly everyone's angry at me?" he shouted. "No one said anything when V got his drama, when you and Yoongi released mixed tapes or even when Jin and Jungkook got their variety shows!"

"That is different!" they heard a shout come from the eldests' room. Yoongi stomped back outside, Seokjin behind him as he tried to calm him down.

"How?!"

"None of us left." he said and suddenly Jimin ran back into Hoseok's arms.

"What?!" he responded and something clicked. "Oh my God," he said before he pulled Jimin into a tight hug and sighed. "You idiots. I'm not going anywhere."

"What?" Jimin said as he raised his head, a pout still evident on his face.

"I'm not leaving."

"But you just said-" Jungkook started.

"Oh my God," he continued before he let out a chuckle, "I'm not leaving Bangtan, I'm going on a dancing programme overseas," he admitted and the room fell silent before chaos ensued.

5 things happened at once:
1. Yoongi pulled out his phone and read the announcement out loud which included the words, "J-hope will be attending the dance programme in order to showcase his individual dancing talent.."
2. Seokjin and Namjoon started to grab at Yoongi's phone to read it for themselves.
3. Jimin pulled Hoseok into an even tighter hug and refused to let go.
4. Jungkook and V yelled at each other for starting the whole misunderstanding.
5. Hoseok tried to escape Jimin's death grip and calm everyone down.

"Yah!" Hoseok shouted and the room fell into another silence. "Do you really think I'd leave you guys?" he asked and the others stared at each other guilty. "Bangtan Forever remember?" he said with a grin and then suddenly everyone decided to pile onto their main dancer.

"Don't scare us like that again," Namjoon said, his voice broken.

"I can't believe this. I should've just told you guys from the beginning," Hoseok said as he was now trapped in the middle of a very tight group hug.

"Yeah you should've!" Jimin yelled but didn't move. That night, everyone agreed to sleep in Yoongi and Seokjin's room, their beds pushed together. They left a movie running though no one was paying attention. They ended up spending the night talking everything out and it ended up being too overwhelming for Hoseok that he cried as he realised just how much he is loved by each and everyone of them. It was safe to say that they all agreed, "No more surprises."
