The sound of rain tapping against the window panes created a soothing ambiance inside the cozy café. Ananya found Simran already seated at their usual corner table, engrossed in a book. As she approached, Simran looked up and smiled.
Thank God yaar, Anu tum aa gayi. Tumhe pata hai mein kab se tumhara wait kar rhi thi?
Simran said, closing her book.
Haan haan, zyada drama mat kar. Pta hai kitna wait kar rahi thi mera. Tum toh bas apne fictional boyfriends ke saath moments soch rahi thi.
Simran gave an awkward smile.
Hehehe!! leave all that tell me why are you late?
The rain slowed me down. Waise chai order ki?
Ananya replied, sitting down and placing her wet dupatta on the back of the chair.
Don't worry about it. I ordered chai for both of us
Simran said, waving at the waiter to bring their order. Ananya smiled gratefully.
Thanks. I needed that. Pta hai, aaj kuch hua.
Oh? So tell na, or are you waiting for all the stars to aling?
Simran said, leaning in. Ananya rolled her eyes and recounted her encounter with Arjun, and Simran listened with rapt attention.
Sounds like a scene straight out of a Bollywood movie!
Simran teased.
Stop it
Ananya said, blushing.
It was just a coincidence.
Or maybe fate?
Simran suggested with a wink.
Just then, the waiter arrived with their chai and snacks. As they sipped their tea and chatted about their lives, the doorbell of the café jingled, and a gust of cool, rain-scented air filled the room. Ananya looked up and was surprised to see Arjun walking in, shaking off the rain from his umbrella.
What's wrong?
Simran asked, noticing Ananya's distracted expression.
That's him
Ananya whispered, her eyes wide.
Kaun?
Simran asked, turning to look.
The guy who helped me earlier
Ananya said. Simran's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Well, what are you waiting for? Go say hi!
Ananya hesitated.
I can't just walk up to him.
Why not? It's just a hello
Simran encouraged her. Before Ananya could make up her mind, Arjun noticed her and smiled, walking over to their table.
We meet again
He said, his voice friendly.
"Hi, this is my friend Simran."
Ananya replied, trying to sound casual.
Nice to meet you, Simran
Arjun said, shaking her hand.
Mind if I join you?
Of course not
Simran said, scooting over to make space. As Arjun sat down, the conversation flowed naturally. They talked about the rain, the city, and their favorite places in Lucknow. Ananya felt a connection she couldn't quite explain. As the evening wore on, she realized that this chance meeting was the start of something special.
