The first day of summer I woke up with a new routine, I decided that I was going to start my day off with a jog around the block.
I put on an oversized hoodie with a pair of old sweats that had the words "Cutie" on the backside.
I grabbed my tennis shoes and headed out the door. Because this was my first time working out I wasn't aware that you can not start off a jog in a full sprint, ten minutes after I started I was laying up against a light pole gasping for air.
I looked up and noticed that I was pretty far away from my house. Black spots took over my vision and everything became blurry.
"Hey are you okay?" A voice in the distance asked. "God?" I said looking up towards the light knowing that this is probably my time to go. I was starring up at the sky awaiting for the gates of heaven to open up, and teleport me away, but a kick to the side awakened me from my daze.
"Are you okay?" The stranger asked me moving closer to my face. His bright blue eyes burned into the depths of my soul and he reached out his hand to help me up.
It was then that I felt another kick to my side that I realized that I was dreaming. This time I opened my eyes to find dark beady eyes looking back at me.
"What the hell are you doing in my driveway?" I rolled over and realized that the light post that I passed out by was in front of a house. "I should really be more observant" I said to myself as I rose up from the hard cement.
"Well are you going to answer me?" The voice said again, I turned around to realize that it was the dude Lacey from my homeroom class. He looked down at me with a look of curiosity and annoyance mixed with something I was unaware of.
I ducked my head down and turned back towards home. "Hey where are you going?" His voice had a hence of sincerity as if he really cared.
I turned around and looked up at him waiting for him to crack a joke or push me back over. "Uhh I was going to go back home.." I managed to stutter out because the look he was currently giving me was kind of creeping me out.
"Well what were you doing out here this early anyways?" "Well I decided that I was going to start running uhhm to lose weight" I said in a whisper while playing with a piece of string that was hanging from my hoodie. "Well before you just get up and run you need to drink water first, I rather not wake up to find someone passed out in my driveway." I did a quick head nod and scurried away feeling his eyes burn into the back of my retreating body.
Walking back inside I couldn't get the look he gave me out of my head. Once back in my house I walked to the refrigerator and grabbed the first thing I could see and began to chug it down, as soon as the liquid hit my throat I realized that this water tasted a tad bit funny, I looked down at the bottle and realized it had a label on it that was barely legible.
As I was starring curiously at the unknown substance that I just contaminated my body with my mom walked into the kitchen. "Hey ma what's in this bottle?"
She walked up to me and gave the bottle a closer look "Oh its just water mixed in with a little laxatives, my stomach was a little upset earlier." She rubbed her flat stomach for emphasis. "Wait don't laxatives make..."
Before I could finish my sentence my stomach let out a loud rawr. "Oh no!" I took off into the direction of the bathroom, as soon as I made it I heard the doorbell ring. Knowing that I didn't get any visitors, I sat on the toilet and let everything explode out.
"Honey you have a visitor!" I heard my mom shout over the loud splashing of water. "Uhh well I'm a little occupied right now." Fifteen minutes later after my body was completely drained I walked to the living room to see my mom and Lacey sitting on the couch in deep conversation.
My mind couldn't even process the scene before my eyes, I've never had anyone over my house let alone a person of the opposite sex. I stood there awkwardly trying to figure out whether I should go upstairs and hide or if I should take a picture to savor the moment. My thoughts came to a stop when Lacey turned around and saw me starring.
"Oh hey Ava I needed to talk to you about something." He looked all around the room almost nervously. I nodded my head and told him to follow me up stairs.
Once we were in my game room he started to pace the floor. "Uhh what is it that you want to talk about Lace?" I said silently laughing at the nickname I just gave him. "Okay well don't take this the wrong way, but I have a plan.."
