Friday 6:22pm
I blow the whistle as the buzzer goes off. I have a fifteen minute break now, thank fuck. I walk to the back but get stopped by someone grabbing my arm. I turn around to see Demitra standing there.
My mood changes instantly and a smile appears on my face, I hug her. "Hey you." She says with a small laugh. "What are you doing here?" I ask letting go. We walk to the locker rooms together. "Thought I'd watch you ref some sixteen year olds."
"Well how sweet of you. You really didn't have to come Mia." "I missed you." "I saw you like twenty two hours ago." "So long." She pouts kiddingly. I shake my head and grab my water bottle. "Oh great, I'm thirsty." Demitra says taking my bottle out of my hands. She drinks it. I furrow my eyebrows and look at her in shock.
After chugging my water she's finally hands it back to me, there's a quarter left. "Mia this was full thirty seconds ago." I say staring at her blankly. "And now it's not." She smiles nervously. "Oh my days Demitra. Don't even talk to me." I say shaking my head. I take a sip and place it back into my locker. "Hey you know you love me." She grins.
I smile and I already know I'm blushing. I turn away and walk forward to the door way of the locker room to hide my face.
"Hey wait up Scar." I hear her call behind me. She cannot know I'm blushing. I take a deep breath and just keep walking until she grabs me. She spins me around and we're just face to face.
I open my mouth but nothing comes out. "I-" I'm like to stunned to speak because of how pretty her eyes are. I close my mouth and swallow hard. My eyes fall onto her lips then back up to her wood like eyes. "Come on, you have a game to ref." She smiles. "Uh yeah." I reply.
She steps infront of me and takes my hand intertwining our fingers. She drags me back out and pushes me onto the court. The buzzer goes and a new team comes onto the court. A blue jersey team and a red jersey team. Uh the sharks and devils I think. It's funny cause we're like four, five hours away from the nearest beach.
I mean there is skyline beach but are we really classifying that as a beach? Anyways the game goes on for around forty five minutes and I was just looking at Demitra the whole time. "Sturniolo come here." My coach says. "Yes sir?" I ask walking towards him.
"Thanks for the help tonight." "Anytime." "Here's the money we owe you." He says handing me like a couple of green Canadian twenty's. "Oh word, thanks sir." I smile. "See you at training on Monday." "Bye Coach!" I say cheerful counting my money while walking away. "Twenty, forty, sixty, eight-" "Hi." Demitra cuts me off with her soft voice and pretty smile.
"Hi." I smile back. "How much you got there?" She asks. "Uh I'd say about one twenty." I quickly count and of course I'm right. When am I not? "Yeah one twenty." I smile as I look up. "It was nice watching you ref tonight." She says as we walk out of the basketball stadium. "Oh really? I'd thought it would be boring." "Oh it was but you were there so." She says.
I bite the inside of my cheek hard to try stop smiling but I just can't and I'm sure you can see my whole face go red. "Well here's my car. I'll see you tomorrow?" Mia asks. "Yeah." I let out. She opens her car door and waves at me, I wave back goodbye and she drives away. I walk over to my car and get in. Music, needed, asap.
Espresso - Sabrina Carpenter
That's that me espressooooo.
I drive home because one, I'm hungry and two, I miss my baby, and possibly my brothers. I unlock my front door and immediately get greeted by Nick and Chris. "How was basketball?" Chris asks with a smirk on his face. "Firstly you need to shave that stupid ass looking 'beard' and secondly it was good, thank you." I reply.
